Duffis... more great guidence from you.
If a person can't keep a contract made with theirself...what does that say about an individual? I'm really not familiar with Gestalt but from your reference I'm assuming the theory is along the same lines as Sigmund Freuds. My research time is limited these days so please let me know if I'm correct.
Hummy...I may join you in the weight loss endeavor contract. Maybe that is what I need as well.
Joe...I find it hard to believe there is something you don't know about. ;p

duffis,
I love posts where I have to do some research to figure them out. I did a quick read on the Esalen Institute, Fritz, et al., and I must confess that this is a part of our society that I'm not that familar with. Big surprise, huh?
The idea of a contract is quite good in all facets of life, but particularly good when applied to personal change. I've often subscribed to the belief that writing things down is one of the best ways to accomplishment something. The written word is a powerful thing and helps to reinforce the initial thoughts of something and provides a constant reminder of your frame of mind at a particular point in time.
Great post Bob. Your human insight is much appreciated.
