PRODUCTIVE COUGH

18 years ago 0 25 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I know my discussion may be gross but I'm very curios. My general doctor adviced, that upon quitting smoking, that I would be discharging via cough, nasal passages, etc. the long term effects of my smoking. Today is my 8th day of quit and I have had no productive cough. When in my quit and should I, if ever, be concerned about this process?

I was thinking the same thing. Where's the cough? I was expecting to cough up some really gross stuff. I was actually looking a little forward to it, i think it would make me feel better to see that my lungs are actually cleaning out. So where did all the gross stuff go? :quest:

Joy, Don't sweat it, I'm on day 612 and I'm still waiting for my "productive cough" to materialise! People differ, my morning cough dried up within days of quitting and has NEVER returned I am pleased to say! If you want more info on this delightfully gross subject including colours and volume, search for the renowned thread entitled "BROWN CRUD" Good Luck Penitent d612

I smoked heavily for 40 years, and rarely coughed...when I quit, I never did cough....my hubby smoked heavily also....he coughed constantly when he smoked...when he quit smoking he quit coughing in a a couple of weeks..other quitters cough up gunk for varying lenghts of time......so go figure.....we are all different. You may or may not cough....and at what point? who can say. Just rest assured that you are doing a wonderful thing for your body...don't worry that your withdrawal is not exactly like others you hear discribed. Katy

Joy, Everybody experiences different symptoms. You may never experience the "Cough". Your body may choose to expel the toxins in other ways. Let us know if you have experienced anything else. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
