Challenging Social Anxiety

14 years ago 0 955 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Members,

Last time we had to identify shyness & sensitivity. Today we will be talking about how to challenge social anxiety with the following techniques:

-Thought records: Keeping a thought record and challenging these thoughts with the 10 questions can be extremely helpful.
-Exposure work: Exposing yourself to a phobia is key if it is done slowly. Perhaps try writing down 10 situations which make you nervous and listing them from 1-10 with 1 being the most anxious and 10 being the least anxious. Working through this list from 10 through 1 may be key to your successes.
-Communication skills: Don't forget to review the way you communicate with others. This is a helpful skill in any situation. Learning to communicate with others will also help you engage in conversations more easily.

What other techniques have you found helpful? Please share your ideas!
