Very interesting!

Have you been using PMR everyday? What have you noticed?

well my psychiatrist is about 70 years old. he has really helped me allot along with this class. i looked on the wall of his office awhile back and noticed that he has an award for America's Top Psychiatrist in 2004 and 2005 for Mood and Anxiety disorders. i thought that was pretty impressive. anyway, as far as the P.M.R., i believe that it was his mentor that actually came up with that exercise. He said that it had been studied, tested, and analysed for about to years. they started using it at the henry ford hospital in michigan years ago, to treat the guy's that were working down at the Ford and G.M plant. i gues the guys would come in to the hospital all stressed and full of anxiety and they would use the progressive muscle relaxation to treat em. He said that they had a really high success rate with it.

Hi everyone. I have something to tell everyone about Progressive Muscle Relaxation. I have been seeing a Psychiatrist for a few months now and he let me in on something i did not know. He said that Progressive Muscle Relaxation, is far more effective on anxiety then just reducing muscle tension, stress, anxiety, for the periods that your having them. he said that if you were to do the P.M.R 2 to 3 times a day for about 3 months it will do much more. while your doing the P.M.R, he said to take slow deep breaths and dont change the breathing while you are tensing up. what actually happens is, around the third month of doing this the right way everyday, the P.M.R. will actually form a connection in the part of the brain that deals with anxiety. This has been proven. Once that, that part of the brain makes this so called fused connection, then you are actually able to just take like 2 slow deep breaths and the anxiety is gone.

Just thought that i would share that with everybody. P.M.R. is way far better then people might think it is.
Hope that this helps some of you.
Mike....
