20 years ago 0 219 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I panic a little during work but always a lot more the morning before i have to go to work. And i never understood this because i like my job. it may be anticipatory social anxiety. I had the weekend off and my baby turns two today! Sarurday was spent building a train table for his thomas the train sets we bought. sunday we had 22 people over for the party. i was fine all weekend. now, on monday with nothing to do but relax...ihave some panic..but i do have tio work tomorrow!

53runner granted i dont always take my own advice but when i am feeling anxious i first try to regulate my breathing and slow things down a bit, good relaxing breaths seem to even things out a bit for me. then i try to realize that the symptoms of panic are not harmful(they are uncomfortable)and i will be able to get through them. often the symptoms of panic bring on more panic so i try to really focus on the physical and try to relax. then i try to disprove the thoughts that are now associating themselves with the phycsical symptoms. i know when i start paniccing all kinds of thoughts role through my mind i start dounting myself and everyhting seems to get worse, but i try to disprove those thoughts, the worry about the future. the money problems, relationship, work or whatever is getting to you, look at them and just talk them out, i just disprove(logically) the irrational thoughts. i say i try to do this because with me i am a worrier by nature so i dont always follow these sometmes i just freak out, but it takes practice, it takes alot of practice and thats why we are all here. thats why there are forums like this because if everyone knew what to do there would be none of the ****py panic. we are all just try to cope thats all we can ask of ourselves is to try, sometime we have the good days sometimes not toso good but we keep on. n

Hello 53runner, I would suggest that you try and implement some positive thinking. If you know that this occurs on the weekends, start preparing yourself with positive thoughts a few days in advance. Hope this helps. Susanne ...and deep relaxing breaths as well

Thanks for the encouraging words Nick. What you are saying is you can not predict the future so why worry about. What types of things do you do to keep your anxiety from flaring up?

53runner i get the weekend anxiety, but mine is more because i am winding down. when i am going through the week my anxiety is pretty low, but its the down time when im not distracted and doing things that my mind starts to race. it sounds to me like you have alot of anticipatory anxiety about your upcoming week. if theres one thing that i have remebered through out this panic and anxiety ordeal is that i cannot predict the future and that life happens, no matter what i cant control it(even though i want to) and thats the hardest thing for me is the loss of control. you just have to trust in yourself and realize that your decisions are the right ones and that you cant worry about the time that isnt here yet. i hope that made sense. n

Do any of you suffer from weekend anxiety? If you do or even if you don't, I would appreciate any suggestions on how I can deal with this. It really gets bad on Sunday nights when I anticipate going back to school on Monday. Thanks.
