Sorry to hear you have been having headaches for so long. It's a good idea that you are going to get it checked out. Headaches can be due to many, many different causes and also can be a symptom of anxiety.
Be sure to review the session on relaxation techniques and practice them prior to and during the MRI. It might also be helpful for you to talk to you doctor about your fears. They may be able to offer you some advice as I am sure many others have been nervous about MRIs.
You may also want to check out the session on worry. Worrying about this MRI isn't going to make it easier; practicing a few worry stopping techniques will be helpful.
What else are you doing to manage your anxiety for the MRI?
I've been having a constant headache for 2 months so I'm finally getting an MRI tomorrow. I know it'll make me feel better to know that there is nothing wrong but I'm really scared of actually doing this.
I've been obsessing over catastrophic scenarios where something goes wrong and I'm particularly afraid of getting the contrast (I am having one with and without contrast). My fiance will be coming along but I don't think he'll be in the room with me because he has a meeting around that time that he has to dial into so I may be alone for the test.
Anybody have an MRI with contrast and was it scary? Did it turn out alright?
