Great post. There is so much dangerous quick-scheme material masquerading as self-help books too, that it is always prudent to consult a therapist or doctor about a list of recommended books. There are some excellent workbooks out there.

You have done a beautiful job in the construction of this site, and I am enjoying going thru each area and reading the materials you have to offer.
In the section on managing and becoming active in your treatmant, I wanted to add about books.
Once I had gotten settled in with my doctor, and I saw the "Glimmer of Light", that I was starting to make progress, my doctor handed me a workbook. This was a key element in my healing. Today I have many books on various facets of Panic Disorder, and am not done reading books on this subject. The medical proffesion is making strides and people the the decision to be treated . People have to WANT to go to get help. Once at this stage..progress is fast..don't forget the book store. A nice Latte and a browse thru the section..and maybe you will find an eye opener, or one that is full of examples of what some have done to help themselves.
You should do this instead of a Doctor....it should be done in conjunction with one. He/she will gladly recommend some reading for you.
Just an idea.....it helped me.
