Panic Disorder Symptoms

12 years ago 0 23 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Ashley.

I was first told I had panic disorder in August of 2012. This was a diagnosis by a therapist. Later on I went to a psychiatrist, and he said that I did not have panic disorder, and he thought I had GAD. This is very confusing when the lines of multiple disorders tend to be a little blurry. Personally, I decided to continue treatment as if I have both, because, well ...healthcare professionals are experts in what they do, but only I am an expert on me. I do have strong fears at times and worry about having panic attacks. I do still avoid places in which I ether had an attack or where I might have one.

Hi Taylo.

I know exactly how you feel. I have been feeling the same way lately. When I try to describe it to my husband I say it feels almost like I hear things the way I would if my head was underwater. It's very strange, but once I did some research and saw that it happens to other people that seemed to rest my mind a bit. I hope that knowing you are not the only one that feels this way may help you, too. You are so right to tell yourself this is temporary.

Try,

Have you been keeping a journal and making entries?  Sometimes that cloudy feeling can be accounted for.  Take the time to make daily entries and then go back and take a weekly glance.  You may be able to pinpoint some issues and why your feeling this way on certain days or during certain times.

Do continue to go through the program, the knowledge and homework will become clearer as well.

I have been having this symptom that I feel like my head is "cloudy" sometimes it's really clear but mostly it's cloudy like something comes over me and I can't shake it. It kinda feels like I have a head cold or something I hate this feeling because I like to be clear headed. I keep telling myself that this will not be forever and I will get through this but it's hard because it doesn't feel that way and its hard to make yourself believe something that your head doesn't think does that make sense. I just pray that when I finish this program and everything I plan to do I will start to recognize myself again

Panic disorder is a marked by recurrent discrete episodes or attacks of extremely intense fear or dread. A panic attack is a brief, sudden and unexpected event that can make a person feel as if they are going to die or go crazy.

Panic attacks produce such high levels of anxiety that they are accompanied by server physical symptoms including:
- A pounding heart
- Shortness of breath
- Sweating
- Nausea
- Chest pains

These symptoms are often so sever that it leads to persistent concern about the possibility of having additional attacks.
