Managing Time

Thanks for the encouragement about online banking.  With all this hacking going on, the suggestion with the low  limit credit card is good, and I've heard it before.

Generally, it seems I want to be more efficient, but not forget the joy Davit shows in his chair, and Eleveno amongst a crowd feeling the pulse of the city

Hugs.

The simplest storage for hard copies is a common school exercise book and a stapler.
On one page you list all the transactions for the month and on the other side you staple the hard copies. At the bottom you write in red Pending transactions and transfer them to the top of the next page for the next month. Keep everything pending in a different colour so you don't lose it.

On line banking, transferring and bill paying is easy once you start to do it. And they store the information so you can go back and look at transactions. You can also Save everything to a file and transfer it all to a memory stick for safe keeping in case your computer crashes.

I've had a computer for only a few years, so it is not like I'm a wizard. It is like exposure, once you do it a few times it becomes routine. And remember I'm 60. I don't like new things. But this is a real time saver. So is on line shopping from safe sites. Safe sites have an "s" after http.
One thing though. Use a separate credit card with a very low limit, say a hundred dollars only and if you need more credit transfer the amount you need to it so you have a one time increase in credit. And use it for that purchase. Do not use your bank card.

Excellent point: time management skills. I have learn that the best system for time management works with simplicity.

At the beginning of each workday I write everything I want to accomplish that I consider important. Non important tasks I do not bother to write them down and I do as I remember them or have the time to do so.

Then I write the time I need to complete each important task and prioritize them.

Next I will consult my agenda and estimate the number of tasks I will complete each day. If I see that the time I have is not sufficient I will delegate some tasks or seek some help.

What do people do to organize their hardcopy bills?  I'm not comfortable with online storage, but with credit card bills, and utilities, what would the filing system look like?

Having this stuff organized would reduce time.  eg.  I was on my way to do banking, and misplaced my passbook.  I can get a replacement, but unless I start online banking(and I feel "old" fashioned doing this, and inadequate), I lose think I lose the history of my transactions.

I seem to spend time looking for things which I've misplaced because I'm reacting to something, and am interrupted, and forget where I was.  This isn't just a senior moment, it's also a sign of high stress.

I also misplaced my mouthguard for bruxism.  That means my teeth wear down at night as I grind them.  I found that yesterday.  It was in my medicine cabinet which I look into daily to replenish my pills, and is bright yellow, and not hidden!

Gardening time can be cut down but buying soaker hose, which drips, instead of watering by hand, too.  20 minutes a day saved would be worth it, and I can prune, and snap some pics in the saved time

Asking for help is important. I try to delegate, if I can afford to shop online, or pay someone to help.  I track my time to make sure I'm balancing things. I noticed I forgot myself for a week!

Cooking things in batches, and dating the batches, allows variety, and saves time doing extra cooking daily.

Hi Members,
Managing your time is essential for your well being, body and mind.  Using preparation will assist you in gaining more time to concentrate on your progress.  Organize yourself and leave some time just for you.  Taking care of you, will help you take care of others.

What do you want to accomplish today?  Make an achievable list and don’t forget to include sometime to relax and wind down.

Remember, if the dishes or laundry don’t get done, they will still be there tomorrow and you will be ready for them!

How do you manage your time? What works for you? What doesn't?
