Good, in the long run it will be a good investment.

Thank you all for your input. It is so good to participate on these group discussions.

Even expensive I will consider the therapy an investment in myself, and for now I will keep it in my plans.

In BC theropy is free which is why I could go for three years. Yes I understand why you want something for your money. Research should be relatively cheap with the internet and library. But it takes a lot of cross reference to weed out the garbage. It is time consuming.

Eleveno,
Perfectionism is what I struggle with too

Thank you Davit for your feedback. I am so perfectionist and in need to control everything that I do not give me any time to relax.

One of the main problems with therapy is that it is expensive ( I am unemployed right now), and I would like for each session to be effective, if not I am losing my hard won money and economies.

You could have a much worse therapist. One of the things you might not have noticed is that your therapist is not giving you the answers but pointing you in the right direction and forcing you to go find them. Are you finding them? Here or elsewhere?
Believe me if he gives you the answers they will not take effect like they will if you find them on your own. A side of perfectionism is the need to control. This need to control can lead to Agoraphobia. Consider your disapointment and why you are disapointed.
I think you are definitely getting to know who you are and how you think. But do you?
It is not unusual at the beginning to feel confused and unsatisfied. (disapointed)
The more you dig into you the more this confused and unsatisfied feeling will appear till you find the answers to the five W's. When you do, and only you can, your therapist can't give them to you, you will see things in a different light. And this can be scary. Especially if there is much that you need to change. Keep posting, it very much reminds me what I went through with my therapist, and she is very good.

I didn't have expressed the disappointment with him. My sessions would be more satisfying if I know the goals for each session. On the initial sessions my therapist said that the treatment would be divided in 3 parts: 1) getting to know who I am and the way I think 2) develop interpersonal relationships, hobbies and other activities 3) start diminishing meds and monitoring the symptoms associates with it.

I thought that therapy would be more organized, and now I realize that it is not. Right now we are on the 1st part and my therapist already talked about CBT techniques without giving me or explaining the tools to work with it. If it weren't for this program I didn't understand what he was talking about.

Eleveno,
If you discuss the structure of the session, there would be time to discuss the tools.  I'm impressed with your ability to process everything

Hi Eleveno,

Beautiful picture.  What a backdrop to bike through!

I'm sorry to hear you had a disappointing session with your therapist today.  Have you expressed this disappointment
with her/him?  What would make these sessions more satisfying for you?  What helped you feel the benefits during the initial sessions?

This post is the 5th one dedicated to express what I am learning from each therapy session

Today I had my 5th therapy session and just before the appointment I visited a local bookstore where I bought some books. Reading is a hobby of mine and going to good bookstore it is a pleasant experience for me. After bought the books I went to therapist and start the session. I have to say that this session was the worst session with my new therapist. As on the last week I will write the Pros and Cons of this session:

Pros: We start discussing the importance of having social relationships and questioning our thoughts. We analyzed my behavior when I was younger and detected that when I was put in stressful situations I would ended very anxious because of my perfectionism and trying to control the situation. This emotions started when I was very young (2-3 years old) and are still present in my life (I am 37 years old).

Cons: My therapist presented me some CBT techniques but didn't show me how to put it in practice. Until the 4th session I got out from each therapy session feeling the benefits of the sessions, which didn't happened on this session.
