Obviously, sitting on a tractor. Most anything out doors and when I have the time creating something out of wood. Right now it is transplanting. In between all of this is sitting and watching, birds mostly. I think I need to do more of that.

Hi Debit,

Wow, that is a nice long list of pleasant activities! Thank you so much for sharing! I think we can continue to contribute to that list! I will add doing research on a new place that you would like to visit and then making a plan to do so. For example: a new coffee shop, antique store..etc.

Members, feel free to continue adding to the list!

Oddball - I find shoveling snow is mentally relaxing.  When you're not in a hurry, but can take your time to clean the driveway.  And de-cluttering is big for me too!  My husband loves me for my love of shoveling, not so much for hating clutter!  Hehe...  He's a bit of a pack rat and I'm always throwing stuff out or giving it away to charity.

Not so odd - Spending the afternoon at Chapters, browsing for books.  I'm an avid reader!  And of course, practicing any sort of relaxation exercise, ie on tape or CD.

Thanks everyone for posting! It was neat to read your lists of pleasant activities.

When I started the program, I was somewhat out of touch with enjoying activities. That has improved steadily while going through the program. Even though there are a few things I"ve been doing all my life like needlework its only recently I know why I do it. Its so calming to me. I am emotionally steady when I do it. I wanted others here especially new people to know how important pleasant activities are. I know its in the tool box but repitition doesn't hurt.

Red I agree organizing can be relaxing and decluttering too. for sure!

Hi everyone:  Trying to think of oddball ones.  I really enjoy painting the house.  I can forget everything else and concentrate on the job. I like doing the trim and the walls.  It looks so clean and fresh afterward.  What I don't like is being interrupted.  I don't like having to stop and make lunch or dinner or laundry, etc.  I just want to do the one thing and eat or take a break when I want, etc. until it is finished.  And floors.  I hate doing floors.  I get the Cinderalla complex, but after they are done, I feel great and relaxed.
Not so oddball, anything creative without rushing.  I like to look at the constellations at night, see if I can find them.  Reading always relaxes me too.  Oh and grooming - that is, giving myself a manicure and a pedicure, polish on the toes, feels great. Of course, meditation and relaxation ex.  I could go on, don't want to bore everybody though. lol

Your friend, Sunny
