Nice to hear from you..I am proud of you too. You have accomplished so much while you've been gone..I have to agree with Davit I think taking the xanax might help you and if you don't like it you don't have to take another one. I take half a tablet to start off with. I wait about a hour and if I need too I take the other half..I have had Xanax that I can take to help me sleep for the last 7 yrs and I have never become addicted to it. The only side effect I have is that I might feel a little groggy when I wake up..That may be from the anxiety I was having before I took the Xanax..As you know anxiety can be very tiring. As for Ensure or Boost they are both pretty good for you. There was a time when I pretty much lived on ensure its all I could stomach due to stress and ulcers. You might want to try a baked potato or some soup too..They are pretty easy to eat..I am really glad you have decided to call a doctor on Monday..Like Davit said it will get better after you get over this rough spot.

Take care,
Red.

Summer, I am like you - when I'm in panic cycle, I can't eat.  Or drink either.  Once I was hospitalized for dehydration because I couldn't keep anything down for weeks.  I discovered that drinking sips of broth from a mug would work.  Someone explained to me that since we are so hypervigilant about changes in our bodies (like you monitoring your breathing all the time), that not eating was kind of like shooting my own foot.  That if I could keep ANYTHING down, it would help my body stabilize, which would help my brain normalize.  So broth, broth, broth for weeks, but then I found the broth was making me hungry, so I tried solid foods, slowly.  And nursed myself back to health.  And that person was right - nutrition really did help my brain get better too.

The side effects by law have to be listed even if only one person gets it and even if it is a combination of a number of things. As for becoming dependant on it, that happens to people who have been on a very long time or have a family tradition of dependence. Most people have no trouble even on maximum dose, for short periods of time. I would say try part of one to see your reaction and work your way up to what works. Once it works you can taper off and go it alone with only CBT. You know I am drug free right now but that was not always the case. I do have valium in case. I would never recommend you do anything that I did not think you could handle or would not be safe.
I hear boost is better lol. but don't know.
I really am proud of you, and this is just the beginning, you are still learning and there is a lot to learn. It will get better after you get over this rough spot.

Here for you,
Davit.

I have no opinion of which is 'better'. I always think of Ensure first- probably which ever one tastes better and therefore you'll drink it is the key for now! Try the Xanax if you think you need it. You shouldn't notice any side effects if you are only taking it once in a while and it will help.

Hi, Davit thank you.I am glad to hear someone else had difficulty breathing. Its just such an awful feeling. And it made me happy that you are proud of what I accomplished. I just feel so down that I can't get though this right now. I ate some applesauce today so hopefully that will help. I just seem to panic everytime I eat. I am so frustrated and sad. Tiana, I am going to call a doctor on monday. I have been drinking boost. But is ensure better? Also I was given xanax in case of a bad day. But I haven't taken it. I really don't like to take medicine if it can be avoided. I have read the side effects and they seem pretty bad. Thank you, Summer

Summer,

Ensure is not as bad as I make it out to be, but you need quite a bit of it. Apple sauce for the fibre would be good too.
I agree with Tiana, you can't afford to lose anymore.

Here for you.

Hi Summer,

That is a lot of weight to lose especially when you look at the percentage of your total weight. I recommend you talk to your doctor right away. In the meantime, instead of baby food I suggest Ensure or other nutritionally dense drinks. Is drinking easier for you than chewing?

I have been suffering with difficulty breathing and swallowing and it is worse when I'm anxious. It turns out I have inflammation in my throat at  the back of my nose. I take Fluticosone nasal spray for it and it works almost instantly. I can breath and swallow again. If you have this, it is really bad during high anxiety which makes more anxiety. Bit of a viscous circle.

The other thing is rebound. It is common to have this after exposure and you did a big exposure. It just means you still have some negative core beliefs to deal with. Basically that because it was not perfect you think next time you won't be able to do it, instead of next time it will be easier. So you carry it over into the present where it has no business being. Use the good points of the trips to bolster the present. Those belong.

I think you did great and am proud of you.

Here for you,
Davit.

With medical questions, it's best, as we have medical issues, to ask professionals.  Dieticians and nutritionists are a great source of information for food-related questions.  In Ontario, there are toll-free lines, and websites you can google where they give you sound information.  Dieticians & nutritions can complement our physicians' health plan.

I don't think it was too much too fast. I felt good that I did stuff and I actually ate some fries and a hamburger and chicken while on the boat. I just find myself being scared again. :( and I have seen a doctor. I just don't seem to be getting the help I need. I don't think they are taking it as seriously as they should. I thought about trying to eat baby food? Any suggestions? Summer
