Thank you all for the words of encouragement!!  It really does feel good to talk to others going through the same things.  I don't think I can help much people just yet as I'm beginning this process of healing, so thank you to those who are here doing better and helping others....I hope to be in your shoes soon!!!

Hi, welcome to the group.

When I was changing from Paxil to Cepralex I too was a mess.  I have found Cipralex to be much better than Paxil less side effects.

I have to little girls 1 year old and four year old.  At first I was very anxious, still am, but it is worth it.  It really gave me motivation to change.

Angie,

Welcome to our support community.  What you are feeling is normal and the members can relate.  There is a world of shared experience here and it helps to post and ask questions.  The free program really does work and it can make a difference.

Take the time to look around and use the tips and tools to guide you.  Each milestone will have knowledge and worksheets to help you every step of the way.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Diane brought up a point I missed, and a good point too. It is common when things are seeming to go well to build anxiety especially if you are not used to it. Sort of like waiting for the other boot to fall. Have you got so busy you have forgot how to relax? If you have started to have worst case scenario worries it will leave you open to panic attacks. Problem with panic attacks is once you have one and know that that is what it is it leaves you open to having another. The program does work and most people see some relief after the first few sessions.

Welcome to the group.  I am new here also but it is a great group of people to ask questions & are there for support.

I think that the reason for your attacks is because you have so many great things in your life.  Wonderful things that you have been waiting for.  Well they are there so enjoy them.  New house, new job.  Work thru the program as it suggests & you will see it gets easier.

Best to you.

Welcome and happy 36th even if it bothers you. I hope you are tapering off the Paxil not just stopping it. SSRIs reduce the reasons for panic attacks but I found in me they did not stop them during elevated stress. I managed to have a panic attack in the psych ward while on Celexa. What helped was going home and taking a valium when I had one I could not control and doing CBT plus research on every thing I could learn about this condition I had. I got some rather surprises when I got into core beliefs. Now I am one of the free, No meds no therapist anymore and no panic attacks. Just a lot of information and coping skills. I don't have panic attacks mostly because I no longer have a reason to have them.

CBT works, some times it works better with medication. Group therapy works also and although we are not face to face, we are a group.

There are answers here and the program works.

Off the subject, I wish I had of had children, an opportunity that has passed me by. I hope you are successful and are getting help if you need it.

A question, why does every one pay for their therapist, I was referred by my doctor and over three years never paid for it once. And she was very very good.

Here for you,

Hello A and welcome to the support group..
When I first started the program I did have a lot of anxiety..It was all new and a lot to absorb at first..When I slowed down and started taking my time with it things got a lot easier..It does sound like you have had a lot of changes in your life lately and maybe it will just take some time to adjust to them..Even if they are positive changes I think it is very understandable to experience some anxiety as we go through changes in our lives..Thats how it is for me any way..Hang in there it will get better.

Hello,

don't know where to start.....i've had anxiety for as long as i can remember.  i'm 36, turning 36 tomorrow actually, and not too excited about it.  I recently stopped taking paxil after about 2 years being on it.  It's been about a month and for the first couple of weeks I was doing great, just some minor withdrawls.....the common zaps as those who have taken the drug will understand what I am talking about.  One day about 2 weeks ago I just had a bad panic attack....can't tell you why either, very frustrating.  There is a lot going on in my life currently...and all for the positive one would think.  Me and my wife just bought a house! I started a new job with a large reputable company.  We are trying to have children!  As positive as this is, it is scaring me to death and I've experienced panic attacks (at least one everyday over the past 3 days) generally at night before going to bed, which now makes me afraid and anxious to fall asleep cause I think I will have a panic attack.

I've also started seeing a therapist, 4 days ago actually and she seems knowledgeable and easy to talk too....just expensive at $200 a visit.

Ok, is it normal to be having so many panic attacks this early in this program?  Have others experienced this?  I felt great after talking to my therapist and then the last 3 days have been anxiety stricken.  Can someone be of some help.

Sincerely,

A
