Sorry to hear about your broken leg. I can only imagine how that is and what it is like to wait to use the new tools. 

I hear what you are saying. I appreciate the support to "aim high". I don't always know when my anxiety is talking. That will come with time and practice i.e. keeping the daily journaling to keep that connection to myself open for good now. Sometimes I think "i don't want the stress of that right now" in terms of taking on a new project or something, and i am not always sure if that is my anxiety saying "i won't be able to handle it" or me saying "these are my (new) boundaries". I am new to self care. I am new to boundaries. 

our motivations can help us to make decisions. 

 its important to make decisions based on what I want, how much work I want in my life etc.. and try to make as few decisions as possible based on anxiety. there is new research out about decision making. purely rational decisions are not as ideal as we once thought. purely emotional decisions are (understandably) dangerous. the goal is the middle ground. to try to make decisions without any emotion is apparently very hard for most of us, and not ideal. emotions help us to some degree. i have a hard time making sure my decisions are not clouded by anxiety whilst retaining a connection to my emotional self. 

I am motived by my desire to live happier, as you say, not fuller. :) i feel like a work in progress today but very grounded and secure in that. i am ok with being a work in progress. which is to say i am past the setback i felt last week. its very up and down this progress. but as you said i needto learn more patience too :)

I guess I meant that even when all seems lost and the rug is pulled out from you you can still find something to keep motivated. See I'm in a different situation. You people want to get better so you can achieve your goals and get to aim higher than you have been able too. You have a lot to look forward to. Me well I believe in "never give up". Yes my health is not good and it did not stop me from buying new tools, Course with a broken leg I cant use them for five more weeks, but they will wait, as will I. With panic over your head you don't want to start anything you might not be able to do. Panic is curable so I think you should aim high and use that goal as motivation to get better. Some thing to look forward too. Aim higher than you think you can achieve so that what you get is satisfying. And be satisfied knowing you tried and did your best. There will always be some things you can't do but I find those are because you don't need to and therefore there is no incentive. You don't have to live life to the fullest, you need to live it to the happiest. There is a difference.
Thank you for your concern. It is a bit hard to stay happy but I am doing it.

I don't know how to respond to this (as posted elsewhere , I have poor interpersonal skills) but I didn't want your comment about not having thigns to look forward to to go unnoticed. I don't know what else to say but hope this was not said negatively, perhaps it is matter of fact and due to the internet, hard to get the tone you said it in.
 
Ugh, I am experiencing what I think others around me have experienced and i have judged them negatively for - not knowing what to say to make someone know they are cared about. Some peopel care this karma. Anyways, I hope you are feeling well. I hope you know how much your contributions here mean to people's health and I value them a lot and am really grateful yo utake the time to give everyone here attention. 
 
I am really sorry to hear your health is not good right now. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi guys,
For me positive thinking - actually forcing myself to ignore the panicky, anxious thoughts. For example. My panic attacks come at around 5 am. I am, and always have been a night owl. I am NEVER up at 5. But for the last few weeks I've been waking at 5, just to have a panic attack. Now I am only on session 2, but I understand that in the next week I am really going to focus on what exactly my thoughts are. But, this morning I prayed (for those of you who do - it's great to get others to pray over you too) - and then I just focused on what I was going to do today. Get up, enjoy my kids while I get them ready for daycare - quite different from my usual: "Oh no, the kids are gonna be up soon, and they'll need me, and I'll have to get them fed, cleaned up, dressed and get ready myself and start the car and get them bundled up... etc etc." Today I woke up my kids with kisses, stayed in my undies and tank top (I told my 13 year old stepdaughter as she came upstairs she was gonna have to get used to that ) ... and got their lunches packed, their breakfast fed, dressed, and I still made it to work on time.. just like I always do.
The anxious thoughts are still there, but it sure made my usual panic-ridden morning routine enjoyable.

A book I have and approve of, so does my therapist. Motivation for me takes a whole different route since I am in poor health and older with little to look forward to but your idea is good.

I think jsquared nailed it on the head, being able to see what you want to acheive really makes a difference, that is why i have started making a visualiation board: its easy

The power of visualisation

How to make a visualisation board:

1. Cut out pictures of the things you really want in life (from magazines, travel brochures etc.)
2. Pin them up on a board, or glue them on to a big piece of card board.
3. Put it up on a wall where you can see it every day.
4. Start visualising your ideal life!
5. for the more technology inclined, create a custom screensaver for your computer
 
I'm not going to put anything absurd on it, all achieveable goals i.e i want to be a better musician, so i will put up a picture of a band i want to learn songs of, perhaps put up the titles of a few songs, a picture of cuba (i really want to go), perhaps of a photoshopped picture of me with a rippling six pack (maybe in the distant future lol) etc...
 
When i finish, i am going to put it up on my wall and meditate in front of it twice a day. it will give me something to look forward too, it will remind me why i deserve to get better and what i can achieve in the process.

I just started reading "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" yesterday. I found a very good process for defining your goals and staying motivated. It says "Practicing visualizing your goals for recovery on a daily basis (preferably in a relaxed state) will increase your confidence about succeeding. This practice will actually make a full recovery more likely." So, you basically visualize and write down your goals about how you want your life to be once you've recovered. Imagine what your life would look like if you were entirely free of your problems. If that isn't motivating, I don't know what is! I think this will be great for anyone who needs that motivation to overcome the obstacles that can sometimes seem overwhelming.
This book is also available as a NOOKbook from Barnes & Noble, which is great if you can't go pick up a physical copy, plus I believe its cheaper too! Also, there are programs for the PC, and most smartphones if you don't actually have a NOOK reader. Stay motivated everyone! We can all get through this together! :D
