Aniexty over Taking SSRI´s (Prozac)

Hi Queens:  I started Ciprolex about 3 months ago.  I too had those same side effects.  I don't know how long you tried it, but for me it took about three wks. and the side effects passed.  I realize it is different for everyone, just thought I'd share the above info.  I'm feeling very well now.

Good luck, let your doctor know what you are feeling.  At the beginning my doctor kept in touch with me every couple of wks. to check.

Hi Queens,

I need some clarification. Are you feeling anxious because you are going to start the medication, and worried about side effects?? Or are you on it and already feeling that you are having anxiety as a side effect??  My suggestion is to start the medication as directed as your first step- if you haven't already. I also agree with the other posts so far!

Let us know.

Hi Queens,

I can definitely relate. I was on Paxil and had a terrible withdrawal getting off it, so was very reluctant when my doctor started me on Prozac a year later.

First of all, and most importantly, talk to your doctor about your concerns. We can't give medical advice here, but I think in general Prozac has fewer side effects than some of the other SSRIs. Also, often side effects are temporary as you adjust to a new medication, and won't last more than a couple of weeks at the longest. For me, when I started 10 mg of Prozac I had insomnia for about a week, but then that went away AND I started feeling much better.

In general I'm reluctant to take drugs, but my therapist has helped me realize that while drugs will not cure me of my anxiety and panic (I have to do that myself through work like the program on this site), they can be an important tool that may make the process go faster.

Like Loves Trees said, I hope you'll start working through the sessions here if you haven't already. The first couple of sessions will definitely help you challenge your negative thoughts and worries, as well as understand what's going on in your body when you feel anxious.

Check back in and let us know how you're doing!

I would go into the tool box on the site and use the directions there to help you look into the "what ifs" you are having. (i think this is in sessions 2 or 3).

Starting new meds is always a bit of an unknown, as we know there are potential side effects to each one. again, the tool box and taking time to work with yourself around the "what if's" can help with how you are feeling.

good luck.

Hello.

I am feeling some anxiety starting prozac (10 mg). I have tried Paxil many years ago and recently I have also tried Ciprolex and I had some unpleasant side effects: nausea, diarrehea and increased anxiety. Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, ideas about easing my anxiety???
