In my area, my phone is always open to anyone who wants to talk out there panic.
Is there some one like this in your area? Just a fifteen minute talk can make a difference.

Here for you.

Hi Spartan,

I am sorry to read you were having a tough time, but glad that you've had a better day or two again. In terms of rebounds, this is something that definitely happened to me about a month or so ago - when I started getting a little better and noticing my progress, my anxiety did morph and things that were fine all of a sudden started to be super scary and difficult to accomplish. When I realized this was probably my anxiety trying to find a new way to get at me, for lack of a better term, and probably just a bump in the road rather than me totally losing it, I felt way better within a day or two. Keep challenging those negative thoughts and I'm sure you'll be doing better again soon!

If you're not interested in taking medications, do you have a therapist that you can talk to? I've found that amazingly helpful. Even though I want to tackle these anxiety issues mostly myself by doing things like working through this program, having someone to check in with now and again (who often has great pearls of wisdom) has been extremely helpful for me.

Hi Spartan,

Sounds like you're going through a rough time. The paranoia and fear can be terrifying, but know that they are symptoms of panic. In the Panic Program, under "Understanding panic" you can read about this.

You are very commited to fighting this and that's the most important thing. You will have ups and downs, but you will get through it. Keep doing the program and your CBT.

Keep posting and know that we are here to listen and support you!

Davit - thanks as always for your wisdom. Sometimes I wish there was a lab test to figure out if there is a chemical imbalance in my brain or not. That would sure make things a lot easier. I sure understand that doing things naturally is a lot of work, but I'm going to try and try and try as hard as I can. Yesterday and today were remarkably better, but I know that there might be other days where I feel awful again. I just do my best to be as positive as possible and do my CBT everyday :)

I can understand your wanting to stay away from the meds, but doing it with herbals is quite a bit of work. It means balancing vitamins and minerals. No caffeine, including chocolate. It means drinking lots of calming drinks, camomile, mints like Lemon balm and ginger mint. Extra calcium for the synapses. And lots of rest. Most people find it easier to take the meds. I don't like them and avoid them but some times they are just a necessity.

Rebound is when you feel better and your negative core belief says this can't be so. And you believe it. So look at it and tell yourself it is not so, you're getting better and have every right to. Just a matter of perception and belief. BUT. if your chemical balance is out of whack in your brain it is going to be hard to do. And there are no lab tests, all you can do is trial and error. The decision is yours.

Spartan,

Take a look at the mood tracker and use it daily.  This can help you pinpoint areas to work on and you may be able to find what "set this off".

Continue to post with us and as you can see that members are here to support and lend some experience.  Don't be afraid to ask!

Juanita, Davit - thank you for replying.

Davit - I'm currently not taking any medications at all, I try not to because I don't like loading myself up
with chemicals. I used to take medication (Celexa and Wellbutrin) for depression and anxiety, but weaned off
of them earlier this year. Since then I've been caffeine and drug free in every sense of the word. I'm more of a
Naturopath now, I'll drink herbal teas if I don't feel well. So to answer your question, I haven't been taking
any medications at all.

As for the paranoia, this is more of a recent thing and by recent I mean in the last week to two weeks. There are
moments in between where I do feel "normal" or calm, and then I feel good...then the paranoia comes back and then
I feel more frustrated than ever.

And your final question...was I feeling better? I have to admit that yes, I was starting to feel better. I was taking
the bus sometimes and getting through my 5 hour volunteer shifts at the Vet clinic. Rebound is a very interesting topic
that I never really thought of until you brought it up. I was just convinced that I was "losing it".

Thanks as always for your input. Reading your replies actually did lift my spirits, even just a little...and that felt good.

Just one question. Are you taking medication for any physical problem. Cold, flu, Infection. I ask this because I have just had to change antibiotic because of an uncontrollable fear and suicidal urges. They went with the discontinuing of the drug. The odd thing was that it was not supposed to be a side effect. Remember I am one of the free, this is not supposed to happen to me. But it did. A really rude reminder of what you people are going through. It was very painful for the one night but it is gone and I am glad it happened, I was starting to think I could not be one of the group because of my freedom.

I do not know what medication you are on for your anxiety and anything else, but it sounds like you need to talk to your doctor and if the list is long like mine is, check for interactions.

One other question. Do you get periods when the paranoia is not there? Do you think you are conditioning yourself to feel this way subconsciously?

And a final question, Were you feeling better? Could this be rebound, it is very common for people to change their anxiety when they start to feel better.

Spartan,
I'm sorry to hear you are having such a dfficult time. Have you used the 10 challenging questions on your thoughts that you may be paranoid?  Maybe by breaking them down they won't seem so bad. Maybe that would distract you from trying to get rid of them, by trying to analyse them instead of trying to force them out of your head. ....I wish I had better advice, but know that I am here for you, at least to listen.
If its that bad, is there an emergency Mental Health center that you go to? It sounds like you are really suffering.
Thinking of you,
Juanita
