Summer time fun!

It's funny I don't remember the b'days themselves, but I do know she did this.  I don't remember getting the money though.  My brother reminded me when we discussed the b'days. I do remember buying penny candy - yes, a nickel went a long way.  On the base we could go to the movies, buy a drink and a chocolate bar for a quarter, but I think that was just on the base, probably more in civilian theatres.

It might be a French tradition, my Mom was French but it was so long ago that it was dimes and nickels and not many at that, I do remember getting a dime which was funny because I am sure it was my brothers birthday. You could buy a lot with a dime fifty years ago.

This might be a French tradition.  Yes, definitely toonies and loonies these days, otherwise they think I'm cheap! haha.  But always a penny, nickel, dime and quarter too.

Hi Cleo:  Yes, I am getting better. I did have a much better sleep the next night and felt rested.  I guess I just had a down day a couple of days ago, fed up with the BP acting up when I'm doing all I can to be well.
Grandchildren left today and I can honestly say we had a wonderful couple of days before they left.  We celebrated the middle child's b'day a little early so we could do it together.  We put money in the cake.  Anyone else do that tradition? just for b'day cakes though.

Hi!
Sunny, glad to see you you are ok...Hope you  have a good sleep tonight..things will be better tomorrow!
Davit... I am with you on the B/P thing....doc's are so quick to Rx meds...B/P fluctuates all the time...You did a remarkable job with the snake picture...Wow! As to your "should -have or could-be moments"....I think you're on it...see the best in every situation....it may not be "perfect" like you imagined it...but its still good! Maybe we could call them Comprimise moments..or is that too boring of a  term?

I really do care and since I use my computer for music I am here numerous times a day. So I check first thing in the morning when I turn it on. I like my first cup of tea just sitting in my chair and I like to see how my friends are doing. Because of the time zone differences some people are on before me. And I am here last thing at night before I go to sleep in case someone is here that can't sleep. (been there, up all night pacing) This isn't my whole life but it is a big part and if I can help, then help I will. I have noticed that those of us that would fit in the "cured category" are still capable of the blues when our world flips upside down. I think this is normal. My therapist and friend laughs at me when I think I have it all figured out. She says I will be learning new things till the day I die. I think that is why she is so good. No fixed "this is how it is and you have to fit". The answer to all our problems is still covering the negative with positive as thick as possible but since we are all individuals how we do it varies.

There is one other thing that we have to deal with as we age that the younger generation does not and that is our own mortality. But if you are thinking about it it means you subconsciously are really happy to be here despite all the medical problems and flip flops we get. I figure if I quit thinking about it I'm in trouble. I've been there where I did not care if there was a tomorrow, not good. So plan like you are going to be here for ever. I like to think when it happens I will be able to sit back in this other life and replay it all back. The good to enjoy and the bad to laugh at.

I have a real good imagination so I can imagine the kids picking apples and knocking off more than they pick and the dog getting excited and wanting to be in the centre and I can see you with a smile. You know even if it isn't going to happen you can still do it in your mind while relaxing in your chair. Sort of the flip side of a "what if", a good side. I'm going to call them "should have" moments. Turning disappointment into pleasure. Or maybe "could have" or "would have". OK people help me, what should we call these moments. Seems to me  they could bury a lot of negative. I'm going to try this to see if I can make it work because right now I have some disappointment I need to bury.

Your friend till the end and beyond.
Here for you

Hi Sunny,

I'm sorry I was late too, hopefully better late than never.  You sound much better.  All I had to say was that when I'm really tired or exhausted, nothing looks right.  That's when I tell myself not to think about anything, and I can look at everything with renewed eyes after getting rest again.  We all love you and care about you.  You're doing great!  Shari
