When I went last year the judge came in and said after about an hour, that they didn't have any cases on the docket that were ready for trial that day so we were all allowed to go home. They can keep calling me for jury duty every year until I have been chosen to serve on a trial and have served, after that I will be called every 3 years..This is the law and my responsibility as a American citizen. Anyway so off I go to the court next week so that I can due my duty by law and go through the jury selection process of being put on the stand and being asked questions by the prosecutor and defense attorneys to see if they feel I can be a impartial juror on the case they are presenting...It may never even get this far just like last time. I am not as worried about it this time..I have been distracting myself all week with gardening and putting up a new fence..
Today I am going to find something non-stressful to do that I enjoy to occupy my mind and rest up for Thursday. If I can pull that off, than that will be my Accomplishment for next few days..
I haven't done a whole lot of phsical work yesterday or today..I have been much more relaxed since finishing the fence and have been getting lots of peaceful sleep at night..I am going to try and take it easy next week and rest up for Jury Duty again.
I have to be appear at the court on the 27th for jury selection and go though the the process of being selected or excused from my duty again...Anyway thats the plan for now..Might go to my quilting class on Tues. next week..I have been absent for three weeks while we have been working on the fence...
I put gravel in my driveway years ago so I had to shovel through that before I could auger the holes for the posts. Even though it is sand and drains well I still went down three feet to get below the frost line. I can't believe how heavy 2x8s have got in the last few years.
Still it is going okay, and I still remember how to do this. No plan, just doing it. No anxiety either although there was some wondering if I could do it.
I live in a valley two thirds of the way up the BC / Alberta border backed up to the Rocky mountains. Winter is just around the corner. Everything has been harvested for a while. Green houses are empty and clean. Fall bulbs planted. Forty tulips in a little rock garden. I still have garlic to put in. We plant it in the fall here so it is first to come up in the spring. I have a two year old Plum sucker I should move but it may wait till spring. It is below freezing this morning and everything is covered in frost. Leaves have changed colour and are dropping. Trees are going bare. My lawn is covered in leaves from the apple trees. The snow line in the mountains is working it's way down. So different from where you live. My ponds will start freezing at night now. Birds have all gone south. Coyotes yip at night and Elk bugle during the day. Next month the snow will come and cover everything and it will get very quiet till late February. March I will start plants in the Green Houses. Looking forward to the rest.
The deck is for the front door and it is small. I'm building it by myself since even if my friend Richard shows up I need him to pull posts. Another friend Greg wants to cut firewood next week so I have to do this before she gets here. Rephrase that, want to, not have to.
Glad your fence is done. Had a neighbour when I lived in town accuse everybody of stealing her greenhouse only to find it on the other side of the neighbours house. It can blow real hard in that village. I suppose if you scratched someone's paint they would want money.
Glad I live in the quiet country. Was salvaging square fence posts today to put back in for a deck.
Man oh Man, what a day and what a great attitude..Plus you got all that wire down too..
Well I got one for you...While working on the last 6 feet of fence line we were putting up. My partner had to make a run for some roofing felt for the post next to the sidewalk a city requirement and some pipe fittings for our sprinklers that needed to be moved..Anyway I stayed here at home it was 95 deg. outside. I went into get some ice water and on my way back outside I saw our easyup awning that I had been using for shade laying on top of the problem neighbors car..Oh my god I freaked when I saw it and was phoning my partner on the cell phone when the kids next door came to the door telling my easyup was on their car..We meaning me and the kids went into action and removed it from there car and off there palm tree.
Later when my partner got home he thanked them for helping me..They said they couldn't believe it that they were just standing there and the wind picked it straight up in the air about 15 feet before it touched down on the tree and car..I think that must of been a devil wind for sure and I sure felt like a angle must have been looking out for me because the car and nobody was hurt..Talk about freak accidents..That was Friday and today is Saturday..No ones has come to the door asking for money so all is well on the Western front for now..Oh the northern fence is all installed now and everything is peaceful for the moment around here.
I don't want to say that to loud or I might jinks it..Lol lol
Had some funny moments taking the wire off my pasture fence today but it is done. Decided to just pull the wire through the staples instead of pulling them all out. So I cut it off at each end and hooked on with the tractor. Nothing happened. Forgot to take the fence tighteners out of the middle. Ran out of gas as far away from the house as I could get next. Finally ran out of daylight, but the wire is off and I can pull the posts out now. Like the Chinese say. "may you live in interesting times". If it doesn't snow next I might get something done despite poor health, overweight and over the hill. All just a matter of attitude and perspective. Nothing that a glass of wine and a movie won't fix.
