for no reason...

Welcome to this site moniq.  I agree with what Davit has written.  This CBT program is the best I think.  You have to be willing to study it and practice some of the relaxation and breathing exercises daily.  You will learn a lot about yourself and others too.  You will learn how your panic cycle starts, what kind of symptoms you have and how your thinking patterns affect it.  Hope you stay and try it.  Good luck and keep posting as often and as much as you want.  This is a safe, friendly place to do so.  There is always someone who is listening and will answer.

If you have been reading posts then you will know me. I'm from usta. I usta have panic. I used to get these attacks for no reason and never did find out why. So you can take heart in knowing that you can get rid of it without knowing why it is there in the first place. So you know that panic is just the fight or flight syndrome activating but not shutting down because it doesn't know it is supposed to. So although it is easier to shut it down if you know what triggered it in the first place you can train yourself to shut it down by convincing it that there is no reason for it to be there. You know how to do the self talk so now you have to learn to talk to the fight or flight and say there is nothing here so shut down. I can hear you saying."not that easy". Your right it isn't that easy to do, I just said you could do it as I have proved. Have you done any of the program or anything similar.  More about how to deal with it when I'm not so sleepy.

So this will be my first post, I have toyed with the site a bit, although I am still quite new.  What has led me to post tonight is mere frustration.  I have been dealing with severe anxiety and panic disorder for about a year and a half now and it has greatly hindered my life.  I was just wondering if there was any other people out there who had their attacks for no reason?  Well, no reason known to you.  I do know a lot of my triggers and a lot of my fears and issues but I think what is the hardest to deal with is I never know when I am going to have an attack.  Like today, I was sitting in class and my body started to feel 'weird', I tried to do positive self-talk and get past it but the physical symptoms kept creeping up.  I was getting flushed, I felt like my neck was on fire, I was having a hard time taking a breath and my heart was racing.  I got up and went to the bathroom where the physical sensations overtook my body, the shakes, the dizziness, it's all so common these days, the feeling that I would pass out and die right there.  But in my regular mind I know I won't.  In my regular mind I know it's just an attack and I wish I could stop them I really do, but as you all know it isn't that easy.  But I have no idea why today, why in class?  Thank goodness I had some ativan in my purse, even though it still took me an hour to calm down.  Like I said I know what a lot of my triggers are but nothing had seemed to happen out of the ordinary.  I am just so frustrated with my body and with my mind right now.  I hate living like this.  But there's got to be relief somewhere, right?  I have got to get my old life back, right?
