Thanks again! I can't deny that I still have "those days" but with my family and my friends on this site I have to keep going.

shadowkins,
I like your topic title and am glad to see you haven't given up.  It was good to hear about you working in your garden today.
Your flowers sound absolutely lovely.  I would love to see a picture of your garden some day.  You painted a beautiful picture of your garden for me to store in my mind.  I too love the flowers in my garden and also enjoy working in the garden.

Thank-you for the info. I will check on drugs.com. I know another site mentionned that people on thyroid medication were not advised to take it. I will also check with my doctor and the pharmacist.
Right now I drink quite alot of herbal teas, chamomile, peppermint, berry zingers etc. and I surely would not abuse the lemon balm. Thanks again, hope you had a nice day!!

Since it is in some people equivalent to .5 mg of Ativan reacting in about 15 minutes it might possibly react with other medications. Drugs.com has an interaction checker where you can list all your meds, including OTCs like Tylenol and cold syrups. It will warn you of foods to avoid also. Lemon Balm is a mint and very easy to grow. How strong it is will depend on what else they put in it. Drinking more than two cups in the evening is not advisable because it will leave you sleepy the next morning. It has two to three times as much sedative effect as the other mints. I normally drink Ginger mint if I am not agitated and Lemon Balm when I am. In me it will stop a panic attack right in its tracks when I feel it coming on. One thing I do not know is if it can counteract the effects of too much coffee. I would not want to see people using it so they can drink more coffee. It may slightly lower heart rate in some people but I never noticed it. That is not hard to check. It never affected my ability to drive either.

Thanks Anerol for your support and kind words.

Davit,
Yes you are right, intelligent and creative people are sometimes also very sensitive to their environment which also can be a problem if they don't learn to shut things out or make a triage of what is important and what is not.

Oh by the way, I finally found an organic store in town that will order the Lemon Balm Tea, I really want to try it once I have finished this course of sleep meds. Do you know if the tea interacts with any meds? Or where I could get that info?

Hi Shadowkins,
you haven't let me down a bit. I think it was courageous for you to be able to express your feelings. And now you were able to sleep well. I'm thinking of calling the therapist today... I'm going to ask about their group therapy too. And your husband sounds nice and supportive. Cheers to intelligent and creative people.

On the subject of intelligence. Creative, artistic or intelligent people have to learn to block out all extraneous activity around them because we only have so much capacity for information at one time. This is why some of their best thoughts and ideas happen at night. The above types of people tend to put more thought into what they do. Burnout and overload are all ways to describe what happens to these types of people. The pamphlet is right. People with anxiety disorders do tend to be more than average intelligent. It may not show because there intelligence may run to something that is not common. Over analysing or over thinking or putting an excessive amount of time and thought into a project are causes of information overload as is an unusual curiosity. We have to learn how to block out all the unwanted information around us and I say us because you certainly fit the category as do I. I have pretty much learned how to do this blocking and so can you, because the other option is curbing your creativity and we don't want to do that.
This doesn't mean that some one who doesn't panic is stupid, it just means that they are better at ignoring the unnecessary. You wouldn't try to carry in your arms more than you could handle or balance so why do it with your mind. Put down one thought before you pick up another if you are going to get overloaded, you only have so much capacity.  Simple hey!

You guys are the best.
I had a good sleep last night , the first time in a long time and it felt so good. Of course the anxiety has decreased but I figure if when I am calm I do the program more will sink in. I think my real problem is I "overthink" everything and I have to try and stop this vicious circle.
To be honest I find greater comfort here at the paniccentre than at my group...maybe it's just too new there yet, time will tell.

You are so right , Davit, when you said it all starts with acceptance and I am still struggling with that....always concerned what others may think. My husband always says " to damn what other think, this illness is no worse than cancer, it wasn't your fault "
and he is right.

Oh ! right, I forgot to tell you guys....at group today they passed out a hand out and on it were  various characteristics of people who experience anxiety... one of which is people who have relatively high intelligence and who are very creative.
Well, I guess we all fall into that group! That's what I told my husband when I got home " Oh well, the one advantage is that I know I'm intelligent and creative!" LOL
There you go a bright side to my story!

Thanks again, I can always count on you guys and I do keep you all in my prayers.

Good Morning Shadowkins:  hoping you have a better day today.  You aren't letting anyone down.  You're going through a difficult time right now and that's what the support group is for - to help you through it.  Pls. keep posting, we do care and want to know how you are doing.  When I was really sick about a month or so ago, I sure appreciated the support comments from here.

Ashley is right, you have not let us down. You could never do that. It is a bumpy road with lots of ups and downs. We expect you to have ups and downs. Time to coast a bit. Get some help to get some sleep and when you can, start again. In the mean time just tell us how it is going. Or talk about anything, flowers, spring whatever but do keep posting. There is no one here who can honestly say they did not have the ups and downs on the way to where they are now. Even me. Today was a bad day but I just rolled with it and hopefully tomorrow will be better. We are here for you and will be as long as you need us and then some.

One of your friends
Davit.
