Joey
I can't advise you either and I have to stay in guide lines. This info is available on the net if I can't use it.
Your O2 sat is Ok. It could be higher but it is OK.  Don't worry about stopping breathing as my doctor put it the worst that can happen is that you will pass out and them you will start to breath normal. Breathing is involuntary. You cannot stop it short of a bullet in the head. I know the feeling you get and I hate it. I don't know what causes it but I have never passed out. Did you get checked for sleep apnoea? If you don't have that then try to ignore it. How are your sinuses, can you breath through your nose? Could it be the T3s? I sometimes get relief from nasal spray. Are you allergic to dust or hair or shampoo. These can all choke you up. And of course there is that old culprit COFFEE. Or any caffeine. I don't know what else to say.

Joey,

A doctor would be able to advise you on what are normal oxygen levels.  Unfortunately I cannot give you medical advice.

Have you taken a look at the Relaxation Session?

Members, do you experience similar symptoms as Joey?  If so please share.

When I first began feeling like this I went to the er and the doctor's office's many times.  They did chest -rays, stress tests, ultrasounds on my throat, and they narrowed it down to my tonsils as the only possible culprit.  I then had them removed and about two weeks later the symptoms reocurred. It might have been because I ran out of tylenol with codiene.  I haven't seen an ENT since but, then again there is'nt one in town anymore and I am unable to travel.  It's been five years and this is the only thing that pushes me over the edge and into a full blown panic.

Hi Joey,

Have you talked to your doctor about your concerns?  He/she will be able to tell you if there is a problem and why it is not possible that your throat will close.

Being worried about breathing is a common concern for individual with panic.   Once your doctor tells you that there is nothing wrong try to reassure yourself that what you are experiencing is a symptom of panic.  It will pass.  I recommend working through the program.  Also, take a look at the section on relaxation techniques.  This should help.

Members, any other suggestions or thoughts?

My biggest fear is that I will stop breathing.  I think my throat will close.  Can anyone help me understand why this is not possible.  Or help me cope with this fear.  This is always the trigger to my attacks.  I even carry a pulse oximeter with me at all times.  If I could cope or control this fear I know the rest would be downhill.  reasons why not, ...... excercises ..... techniques ..... understanding of how breathing works .... any of these things might help.
