Zoloft

Hi AmJ,

It's encouraging to see that you are seeing success in facing your fears.
Try speaking to your doctor about the benefits and side effects of Zoloft.  Your doctor may also be able to provide you with alternate solutions if you're really against taking medication.

Keep us updated!

I as well was on Zoloft and Xanax at the same time. (Whew!)  I got off of them because I didnt like the way it left me feeling.  I was always walking around with dry mouth and it messed with my stomach.  The thing that has helped me is this site and reading books about my condition.  I was diagnosed with PTSD and my favorite book , "The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Relationship" by Diane England PHD,  has been especially helpful for me and my family.  Im not knocking meds but I feel that getting educated about my (your) illness and communicating with others who are experiencing what you are going through goes a long way towards recovery.  Good luck to you.

AmJ.

I can't tell you whether to take Zoloft or not. All I can tell you is that I didn't like how I felt on any of the SSRIs. They also did not cure me. I and some tools like the tools in this program cured me. They can be a big help if you are having trouble concentrating or have no motivation. You will still have to do the program or something like it.

Hi Everyone,

At my therapist's visit today she commented that I seem to be telling her that I am having attacks that are getting easier and easier to deal with. I didn't even realize. She did mention to me again today that I should probably begin taking the prescribed Zoloft to help further combat anxiety/depression. I am a little annoyed to be honest. I have just heard TOO many negative things about anti-depressants. It seems that more people have trouble with them than success. And what about long term. I do not want to be on anti-depressants long term. I might be being naive but I had panic attacks as a teenager and they seemed to just go away after awhile. Obviously this situation is a little different but I didn't take anything back then at all. I just cannot buy that medication is the answer to my problems. Xanax takes the edge off and I am grateful for that but I have also been trying to face my fears everyday little by little and it seems to be helping. I am sorry for the rant but I am just weary of everyone pushing pills on me. I respect that I need some help and I might even need the medication but am just so confused. Has anyone ever taken anti-depressants lik Zoloft that can provide me with some insight?
Thank you so much
AMJ
