Hi Kristina: Congratulations on your joyful news, a baby.  Italy - you lucky girl. I still remember Italy when I was a child and we travelled a lot - the sculptures! that's what got me to art school and take up sculpture.  I used to have panic attacks with chest pains and racing heart.  I too, thought I was going to have a heart attack which made me panic more.  The mere mention of health issues in that area caused anxiety, couldn't even read about the heart, so I know what you are going through and I know that you can get better.  Deep breathing techniques did the trick for me and meditation, once in the morning and once in the evening.  Keep practicing this faithfully.  It took a while to master but once I did, the deep breathing calmed me right down and became almost automatic.  That is the technique I use the most today.  My doctor had assured me my heart was healthy, but I always worried too.  Sometimes running cold water on the inside of the wrists slows the heart rate down.  I would make myself limp like a ragdoll to relax the muscles and that would help too.  Hope these tips might help you.  This is a good site to voice your concerns and "talk" to people who understand because we have been there or are living with anxiety.  I haven't had a panic attack for years but sometimes feel anxious when I'm overtired or feel overwhelmed by too many things to do.  So I know I have to be good to myself, good sleep habits, good nutritious food, and know when to say "no" to extra duties. Hope you keep posting.

Hi Kristina.
My name is Davit and I concider myself a success. I was a mess and have suffered anxiety all my life.(59 years)
Welcome to the program. It works and will cost you nothing but time. But time it will take. A moderator will explain it and help you with it. I have always concidered Italy with it's history and culture to be a lovely place to live. I envy you. Thus said you need to cure this panic so you can enjoy it. I'm retired and practically live on this computer, so you can talk to me any time you want. The only thing will be the time change. I'm sure there will be others that want to help also. Remember panic is panic and although I can't relate to being pregnant, I did have multiple reasons for panic, and I have beat them. Periodicly I still try to panic but it is laughable how short it lasts and how little effect it has. In time it will fade out. New situations cause me some anxiety, but never terror. It is a really good feeling to know this thing doesn't rule my life any more. Keep posting. Accepting your reason for panic and talking about it is the first step to getting rid of it.

Peace
Davit.

Hi Kristina,

Welcome to our online community and thank you for sharing your story with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests.  These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor.

We also have developed a Panic Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.

These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free".  If you have any question or concerns with our “TOOLS”, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net.  We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support.

hi everyone! My name's Kristina and I have been suffering from panic attacks for about 17 (Wow!) years.  First one started while I was at university and I have had periods where I didn't suffer at all.  One of the things that helped me was CBT, but the problem is that was about 14 years ago and I now live overseas in Italy where it is not really practiced that much or if it is it can cost you 150 euro a session, about $200 out of pocket since there isn't private insurance for mental health.  My worry now is that I am pregnant (2 1/2 months) and am literally terrorized!! My main fear and repetitive thoughts are that I am going to have a heart attack, it has always been this way! racing heart, tightness in chest, etc...

I seem to be having more frequent and severe attacks recently and it really scares me.  I don't trust the medical system like I do in the States so that just increases my fear.  Now having to go do exams and the thought of doctor's visits is driving me crazy it's like it is the only thing i can think about and worry about...I hope this program helps me to remember the things that helped me in the past..if anyone has the same symptoms, fears I would love to speak with you or if someone has a success story that would be wonderful... I am just literally living in a state of terror and I should be happy!!

thanks!
Kristina
