Need to move forward

Lance,
It sounds like you are really making progress.  Congrats!  Sometimes it takes one time of just going for it and having a positive experience to begin really making some improvement and taking more chances working toward you goals.  If you think it would help, maybe you could write down your goals and think about the steps you need to achieve them.  One managable step at a time, but if it helps you to have a plan, maybe that would help.  Congrats again on the improvements!  Make sure you take time to think about how far you've come!

Hi Lance:  Just a suggestion; this is from an old saying - kinda corny, but it works for me.  We don't have yesterday, so don't worry about it, it's gone.  We don't have tomorrow yet, it hasn't arrived.  We have only today, so concentrate on what you want to do today because that's all you have right now.  That way, you experience and can work on one day at a time, one step at a time, and this will help you not get overwhelmed.  That's what I remind myself when I have too many things to do.

Ok, well try not to worry about that at this point.  Keep doing what you are doing.  Try not to worry about it.  This is a good thing right?  You are moving forward.  It is unbelievable how much you are accomplishing in such a short period of time!  Bask in your glory you are doing amazing!

You can do this Lance. I know you can.  Deep down you know you can too.  The driving is an obstacle but you can face it.  If you fail? That is ok, the only way to progress is to fail.  Knowing you, you will bounce back and simply try again. But if you succeed, how do you think you will feel then?

You are going through a lot right now.  With your quit, changes in medication and everything else you are working on; being up and down is very understandable.

Congratulations on starting work!  One more thing off the list!  It is understandable that you are a little concerned.  All you can do is your best, try not to put too much pressure on yourself.  Is there a back up way to get to work in case you are unable to drive? It might take the pressure off to know there is a way out if absolutely necessary.  But I am not even sure you would want an alternative method.  You have been doing so great I have a feeling you might want to drive it.

When will you be starting work?  What are you looking forward to about starting work?

I didnt really notice anything running through my head. I just kind of did it. I was a little nervous, but it was OK. Today I'm doing it again here in a while. Its only about half a mile, but on a busier street and a big intersection. I'm more nervous today, because I slept way to long and dont feel right. Still feel kinda off. I go see the MH therapist today. I groggy so Im having coffee, I call that a big no no. So we'll see.

Lance!  So happy to read this!  I know that this has been a major concern for you so it must feel so good facing your fear like that.  YOU DID IT!

I hope you give yourself a big reward!  Thank you for sharing your success with us!

What was running through your mind while you were driving?

I did it !  This morning it was pouring down rain, so instead of walking to the light rail, I got in my car and DROVE and I was ok. I then had to drive back, to the store on the way and that was ok too. So I am happy about that!
