Some advice or questions

Hi Gilkey,

My experience with anxiety is a constant one.  From sunshine to sunset, with occasional breaks here and there.  Recently started taking lexapro, and it's already helping me out tremendously.  Ever tried to get 7 hours of sleep (in between the anxiety and depression)?

Hey Gil,

I had morning anxiety for a while. Now that my anxiety levels are lower I must admit mornings feel pretty much like any other time of the day unless I am very tired. As for feeling depressed I get that sometimes in the morning, But I tell myself it is temporary and it will go away and it usually works.

Anyway, hang in there, there are definitely things you can do to help with this. The program here is great!

Hi there,
There is a really good book that explains the morning depression / anxiety by Claire Weeks, called Self Hlp for your nerves. Its an old book, but she devotes a whole chapter to the subject. She feels it might have something to do with expectations, feeling pretty good and bit more relaxed when going to bed, and the disappointment of waking up to feel less so. Her recommendation is to get up straightaway, and do something, shower, breakfast anything really. See if you can get a copy, it should be quite cheap now as its so old, but when I first read it, it was so spot on I felt as tho' she'd written it just for me !! So much explained, and made sense  !
Hope this helps

Thnaks for responding Diva.  Yes, I love your sig.  I sometimes have to repeatedly tell myself that to get through rough spots.  Only med that I have consistently been on since this all begin some 8 years ago is Paxil.  It seems to work well.
This episode is totally different, in that, it's lasted a longer time than usual.  (Since, 12/04/08).  Also, usually my anxiety centers around sleep.  For the most part, it was the same up until last Thursday night.  I had a anxiety attack while trying to go to sleep and that set me back.  Also, it really frustrated and depressed me as, I thought that everything was going well and the end was almost near, at least for this time.
Now, despite sleeping, in the mornings, I have depression/anxiety.  Usually, (..and thank God it does), it goes away mid-afternoonish or once I get around others and do a lot of interacting. (i.e. work)  The weird thing about it is that if I don't sleep well ( say 4-6 hours; disjointed..etc), I'm more anxious in the mornings vs being depressed.  However, if I sleep really well (6-8 hours; mostly contiguous).  I wake up depressed.  Just seems like a never ending saga.  However, I believe that "...this too shall pass".
Anyone with similar experiences?

Hey Gil,

First of all, there is no need to call yourself a taker or to feel bad for asking questions. This is what this forum is for and you are welcome to ask anything!

Well, I have been of most meds for quite some time and have just recently (this wednesday) gone onto anti-depressants. That by no means mean that I am doing very badly. This is just a rough spot and I fully intend to get over it quickly lol. Life just keeps getting better for me. I just kinda overdid it last year and am dealing with a little burn-out! Ah well, live and learn!

I can't really answer your questions about meds as you can see. But I do want to say that it gets better. There was a time I was always strapped with anxiety. Now I do quite well and have a good quality of life! CBT savedme. I highly suggest you give the program a try.

Anyway, sorry I cannot be more useful to you. Have a good day!

Hey guys, I hope all is well.  I hope that you are able to find some peace in the storm.  I know that I am new here and I apologize for being strictly a "taker" and not a "giver".
I have several questions.

I went to see my Pschy today and, as expected, he upped my Paxil dosage.  Paxil has worked for me for 8 years and raising the dosage usually works to end episodes.  At some point, did simply raising the dosage of your meds stop working for you?  Anyone have any experience with this?

In the past, my "episodes" of GAD lasted around 2 - 3 weeks, this one has been going on since 12/04.  How long between episodes are typical for you?  Or, are you constantly strapped down with anxiety?

Anyway, thanks in advance for your responses.
