I live by myself so I don't wear the ear phones any more. I turn down the boom box till I can just hear it and I have a remote so that if I wake in the night I can turn it back on. It works wonders.

Oh ok,

Thanks AmJ. I've been doing this almost every night, and I am for sure getting so much better sleeps!

Nope, not weird in the slightest. In fact, thru personal experience I have come to realize that this means that it is working and you are teaching yourself to relax. It happens to me all the time and I must say that it is some of the most restful sleep that I get. Enjoy!

Hi AmJ,

Thanks for getting back to me. I've been listening to some relaxing music on my ipod before bed. However, I keep falling asleep before the music ends and I fall asleep with them in my ear...is that weird?

Hi SIM!

I definetely use ear phones. It helps me to concentrate better on the recording and blocks out any un-relaxing sounds around me allowing complete relaxation. I use self-hypnosis apps by Andrew Johnson on my Iphone and they have been VERY helpful in helping me practice breathing and mediation exercises. Let me know how it goes and good luck.

Hey AmJ
Was just wondering, when you listen to this before bed is it with earphones or out loud?
I've been trying to listen to some relaxation for bed but i'm not sure if i should use earphones or not.

Thanks!

Mediation is a GREAT tool before bed. The ones on CD or Ipod are very easy and take about 15 min. I relax in bed and play one and it relaxes me even if I feel panicky or anxious. It takes a while but if you try to do it at least once a day the effects are really good and before you know it you are practicing the techniques throughtout the day.

Hi:  I have found that if I have a hot, hot bath before bedtime (rather than shower) it relaxes the muscles.  Then if you like warm milk, a cup before bedtime helps too. You can add a drop of vanilla if you don't like it plain.  Also, try a relaxation exercise, deep breathing or meditation, whichever works best for you before going to bed - let yourself know that it is o.k. to be concerned about financial problems - this is normal and a good thing - but right now you are going to sleep.   Hope this helps.

Hi Jo,

First off, welcome to the board!  Secondly, I feel you about the whole money issue.  Personally, I do free things.  Go to the park, play football, soccer, walk, run, whatever.  Gotta fill that spare time with something active, otherwise the crazy mess that is my bills would make me go loco.  When I'm not active, I get down on myself and frustrated easy.  And every once in awhile I go somewhere I'm not familiar with, it helps clear the mind having to deal with it.  Could just be the town next to you, or a bike ride into the neighborhood down the street.  I think I just like the adventure of being lost sometimes...makes me feel like Jackie Chan...damn, I'm an overgrown kid.

Hey Jo,

I know exactly how you feel. I am so there and doing that right now! I guess what we both need to do is take extra care of ourselves and we will both get through this! Hang in there, I will too!

Capeverde,
