Aha, that's exactly what I figured out today Diva.  The whole be mindful of symptoms but not worry about them.  Ain't that ironic...

Hi guys,

Thanks for your support! I haven't been posting but I have read your replies religiously since my last time posting and they were a great support to me. Thank you so much. I have managed to settle down about all this and decided that Cael and  all of you are right and I am just trying to take it in stride. My hubby said all we need to do is keep this fact in mind for a while so that if we get syptoms we are mindful of them but that worrying serves at nothing and he is right. So I have calmed down considerably lol. Thank you for your support it really helped me feel much better about all of this.

It's funny you should say that I don't watch it at all at 11pm now, as that used to disturb my sleep....so really I have limited it a lot as that was the most I watched, that along with crime shows and such, now I just watch comedies!!!

April, if watching the news causes you much anxiety, would it be a good idea to limit your news time?   It's important to know what's going on in the world, but if the repetitiveness is getting to you, what other options do you have?     Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

I have been seeing all of this Listeriosis stuff too on the news, and unfortunately once something like this happens the media takes it and runs with it....it seems to be all they are talking about and that is scary for people to constantly hear on every broadcast!  I admit when I first heard it, I kept thinking about everything our family has consumed in the past few months....we don't buy our meat from the grocery store, usually only at a drug free butcher, but because it was in restaurants and stuff you start to think about what you have ate.  But I really believe it doesn't help that it's on every news report constantly it's started quite a panic and contributes to the society of fear that we already live in.  I feel bad for the people who unknowingly ate it at their nursing homes and hospitals with no hope of survival, just awful.  Sometimes I think if I didn't ever watch the news I would be much less anxious, but I need to know what's going on in the world, catch 22!  I hope that you are feeling a bit better now Diva.

Hi Diva...

Oh girl, I so understand where you are coming from.  The ups and downs of anxiety... lol..  I wanted to let you know that what Cael is saying is right.  Listeriosis is actually fairly common and like Cael mentioned we've probably all had it at one time but being healthy did not really get too sick.  It is a reason why I try not to eat deli meats or give them to my kids. Although I'm not always diligent this is a prime example of why...  This outbreak is only different as it is far reaching and they can identify the source...  Deli meats shouldn't be eaten by anyone who is pregnant or has a weakened or compromised immune system... same as soft cheeses etc.  The recall was broadened only as a precautionary and the chances of you having eaten an infected product is VERY rare... It looks like most people affected ingested it through hospital food...

You're going to be ok Diva!!

Work on challenging your thoughts and focus on being well.

Take care.

Hiya Diva,

I hear you about the Listeriosis thing.  My dad is one of the "bigwigs" over at the FDA (though you would never know it, he's a modest mouse kinda guy), so I hear about what goes on more often then not!

I hope you you don't mind my asking, but you have work and school after summer?  What are you going to school for?  And are you a teacher?  I know, I know, enough with the 20 questions!  Sorry, curiosity got the better of me.

Anyways, hope you're feeling better now!

Cheers
