Lol here to accept thanks and still she gives us good advice! Thanks!

Gene,

Lol I love that: I am a proud geek! I also love the star wars reference! I love that you get so excited about your passions! Anyway, don't know if I am smart enough to qualify as a geek but I totally get why you are a proud one! Keep up the good work!

Ha ha. I really liked the responses from all. This place also makes me smile.
Jhori you are always giving good advice and you have a great attitude. I believe that it goes a long way. And you can steal my post whenever you want to. I know I have done the same on other peoples' posts. This PD is slowly starting to loose it's grip on me. And that's ok. But if tomorrow I have a bad PA I know that I will again feel better and no matter have low I am after the PA it will pass!
I also must give my thanks to the health educators. It is an incredible thing you do. When we recover from PD I believe that the best thing we can do is post here with our successes. I know that reading of how other people have recovered gives me hope. DazedMommy for example continues to post here I really appreciate that.

Yes Dee, schools should teach people about things like depression. The WHO reckon that it will become the most common affliction in industrialised nations. And yet little is known about mental health problem and people who suffer from them are frowned upon.

Thanks Miki for the kind words. Sometimes I don't believe that about myself so I want to try my best to help my wife. She is a fantastic lady- she just doesn't realise that herself yet!

Oh and Jhori the Placebo version then continues with "but a friend with weed is better" LOL. Oh yes and may the force be with you (aren't we a bunch of geeks!- I am actually a proud geek. I was so excited when about the large hadron collider turning on in Europe today that I got goosebumps!)

Thank-you for those kind words Jhori82 , gone emotional now lol .

Have always believed in treating others how you want to be treated . Like i have mentioned before it has sometimes got me stung in the rear but i wouldnt change me for the world . I can hold my head high and say im decent !

A simple smile to someone can brighten there day , i have big problems with eye contact . Now when i out and about i make it my buisness to look at least one person and just smile as i walk past them . It works , they smile back . This is a double whammy for me a) im making eye contact and B) hopefully someone has felt better (espically old people) .

Having had the evil depression off and on for years , i usually know and see the signs . Im currently helping two neighbours out now from what i have learnt over the years . So i hope that when they are better they can help someone , the age old knock on affect .

Hmmm dont know where im going with this so will shut up as i have hi-jacked Genes thread too  .

Oh, and my apologies for hijacking this post Gene.  You're the hero in this story!

Thank you everyone, for adding fuel to the fire this post is creating.  Sometimes a little heat is all we need to melt away the ice on our hearts, no?

Miki:  Kinda funny how sometimes we look back and wonder if we pushed too hard, only to realize we pushed just enough!  That's the good thing about being kind-hearted, the push is always needed from people like you.  As an added plus, nobody can ever tell you that you went through life without helping at least one person.  I guarantee that one person helped someone else too, so you're just the start of a great chain of events!

Dee:  Thanks for just being you.  You're kids and husband are lucky to have someone who can show them that a struggle doesn't define a person, and it sure can't stop them.

Faryal:  You're just awesome for dedicating your free time to help those in need (just as the other bi-lingual pro's here!).  What you girls do is no joke, but I can attest it gets plenty of smiles.

Gene:  Thanks for keeping the tow boat going.  Enlightenment after enlightenment, you seem to be able to add the right touch, or start the right fire (considering this began with you).  Like you, I'm overcoming my people pleasing nature, and in turn creating more success with the little things.  After all, it's not about the quantity in life, it's about the quality of life.

And YES to "what is changing now is my attitude".  Maya Angelou has a saying:  "If you don't like something, change it.  If you can't change it, then change your attitude about it".  This truth is ringing louder then ever before, and helping with these sometimes cumbersome, regularly painful, but always worthwhile steps we must take in life.

What does Placebo add to the phrase?  Aha, sorry I tried to look it up...but I'm coming back with a band from London?
Rofl, and let that force be strong in you.  You're on the path to becoming a Jedi Knight!

And to anyone else who has a problem views this...feel free to jump in and respond.  Bring a shovel!  Who knows, you might dig it...

Yes, this is a lovely post.
Gene, I agree with you. I always thought I had an idea of what depression is, but I remember pushing my friend a lot when she was in there. And once I was in there this year, I thought about her so much and was sorry at how strong I came on to her. When I recovered, I told her everything and said how sorry I am at how I was un-understanding. But she said that my willing-ness to push her really pushed her out of it. I guess my pushing was a good pushing.. was relieved to hear that... well.. I was really happy to hear that. But I do feel like I can take out a hand now to anybody who needs it this time. Thanks for being a great husband, Gene!! You definitely represent the good ones.
