Hi Mya I'm the one who is on paxil.. For me the medication took about a month to balance itself out. I've had great success with it for the most part. Now that you're on it - congrats for being so brave. The first pill was the hardest.. I was quite sick to my stomach that first month as I tried to find the dose right for me. So the nausea is very normal. I actually lost a bit of weight too... but I perservered through those first few weeks and am very thankful I did. Meds are tricky.. I've only ever taken paxil so I can't share any other experiences. I'm currently changing my dose as I was trying to wean but my hormones went crazy after baby #2..lol... and have had to increase it again. Even with that change I've been sick to my stomach etc. My anxiety was also quite bad for some time before I admitted I couldn't wean.. ugh... But hey.. I'd rather be happy and live a productive life ;) You're doing great..and if you have any other questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them.

Congrats in making it to day 6!! SSRI's take about 2 to 4 weeks to actually start working. It is uncomfortable at first but I got adjusted to mine in about a week. When I took my meds, then, I wasn't afraid of taking the meds, but I was more relieved in getting some type of treatment. Make sure you write down all that you are feeling, mentally, and physically when you start meds and let your doctor know. I've read how medication symptoms can be altered by the dosage too. (Make sure it's not too strong for you.) Anyway, you made it this far! Congrats.

Mya, Many here have struggled with starting or stopping medications. In general, most medications of this nature take time to build a therapeutic level in your system. As it does, the effect it produces becomes more pronounced and stable. Hang in there! Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator
