I totally understand your fear.,.I started paxil 9 days ago..i was scared to DEATH!!!! I even called the doctors office and stayed on the phone with my nurse while taking the first pill...about an hour later i felt real drowsy...but my pharmacist said a lot of that is me playing up the side effects...now i am on day 9..i still have anxious thoughts and a little drowsiness,dizziness...but tolerable..they say it takes a few weeks to feel it kick in and i am almost there...be strong and have a few support people to get you through..this site is great..people will reply quickly and call your pharmacist with any questions...i called a few times and was always reassured...a friend of mine is on zoloft and is doing great!!!

Cornish Dee, You may want to contact the pharmacy where you had the prescription filled. They will likely be able to answer every questions related to side effects. Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

Well, I cannot take SSRI's but I know Zoloft is an SSRI like paxil. People I know who have taken it got good results out of it. Of course all medications are personnal and everyone reacts differently. The best thing is to give it a try and talk to your doctor about how it makes you feel. I know it is scary tho...But hang in there, you can do it. Also, I bet others have first hand account of this med for you and will be along to let you know how it was for them. -Diva

Cornish-Dee, Well I agree with Dazedmommy and Miki that you might not feel brave but that you are brave :) Being brave is not about the absence of fear. Being brave is about being so afraid and still going on trying :) Anyway, hang in there and take care of yourself and remember, this too shall pass! -Diva

Thank-you for the lovely comments DazedMommy and Miki . I dont really feel brave . I had to go to emergency doctors very late at night because i was in so much pain . He gave me some medicine to stop the cramps touch wood it has eased it . Hey i didnt even have a panic attack getting a taxi to and from the hospital . I slept for two hours and bam woke up to a string of them . Coped on my own . Then slept another two hours . Just that amount of sleep seems to help . oooo had all my paperwork from hospital today telling me absolutely everything whats going to happen to me ekkkkk . But after last night just want to get on with it . :)

Cornish-dee I'm sorry to hear how tough things have been. I completely relate though and once your sleep becomes deprived it only makes matters worse. I too struggle with sleep when things are not so great but as all things, this too shall pass. You have a lot coming up in your life so your stress is completely justified and understandable. It also sounds like your medications may have contributed.. it can be a bit tricky when we're trying something new.. Like Miki said..you're courage is admirable and you're inspiring. Thanks for sharing. Oh.. and I agree with the breakdown.. sometimes that release feels so darn good ;)

I am sorry you have to go through so much and such horrible panic attacks. But your courage really attracts me to your light and helps me see mine. I really hope all goes well for you. I think we all need to break down often, it gives me this release in tension, even though I waste a lot of tissue, hah. But definitely, at the fact that you are going through this struggle and doing things to change it is really really admirable.
