Magge i totaly and completely agree with Isabella way to go girl! You are taking new meds and going to a therapist way to take the right steps to take care of yourself! Plus,I also agree with Isabella that side effects do take a while to calm down so you have to kinda give it a chance. But do talk to your doctor about your side effects as it will make you feel better. I know i am just repeating Isabelle but i completely agree with every thing she said. So hang in there and remember, This too shall pass! -Diva

Maggie, I am so happy to see you posting!! I was wondering about you all week and almost put out a post with your name on it! All I have to say is way to go girl! You are brave enough to start meds and you are going to see a therapist so you are taking all the right steps to getting better. I am really proud of you and really happy for you because I know how bad you have felt lately with your insomnia and everything else. As for the meds go, I can't help you there because I haven't started my lexapro yet but I do commend you on taking them. You need to stick it out because they say the side effects generally decrease after a one to two week period and it may take up to six weeks to see an effect. Talk with your doctor if you are concerned about the way you feel as it may help you feel better. Well, keep me posted on how everything goes for you but I really feel that you are on your way to being soooo much better. Smile for a moment and be happy that better days are on their way! ~Isabella~

Hi Maggie, Good for you for taking the initiative to meet with a counselor to start therapy. You can use our online program in combination with this type of therapy. Regarding your medication concern, fellow members will be by shortly to share their experiences. Please keep in mind though, that as individuals, the experiences may differ. What works for some may not be appropriate for all. Please don't hesitate to consult with your health care provider or even your local pharmacist about any medication concerns. I decided to start Celexa @ 20 mg (may increase to 40 mg), as I have heard that anti-depressants can actually be pretty promising in the treatment of Panic and Anxiety disorders. It has been only two days and I am experiencing awful upset stomach, worsened insomnia, and brain fog. Above all those, I wake up to this feeling of jitteriness (almost like I am on speed or a major sugar rush). My body shakes and I feel like my brain is shaking inside too. Other times, I just feel zombied out (spaced out)... Is all of this normal for now? This has been a very hard step for me as I have my fears about being bipolar and such, and because I read too much online I now know that sometimes anti-depressants can induce mania in people. My doctors told me I have nothing to worry about, so I am trying not to. I am battling those fears by even taking the medication in the first place. Anyhow, I would just like to know if anyone here has experienced insomnia and a 'raced' feeling when trying their anti-depressants? I think I worry about those symptoms the most because I always imagine those are some symptoms that would mimic mania. I know it's probably irrational, but I decided to post instead of taking myself of the meds and blowing it all out of proportion. In the morning, upon awakening, that is when the jittery feeling is the worst. I just don't want to give up on something that might actually help me on account of my fears again, because sometimes I really believe that this might actually help me out. Thanks. Oh, and to all of those who were suggesting therapy- I'm going to speak to someone starting Thursday! Perhaps these are some positive steps after all, and I have all of you to thank. So, thank you all so kindly.
