Hey Grapeseed,
"I made it through the week. It's not easy but the cravings are getting less intense." Congratulations. That's awesome!! ? One week down and still going strong. Be sure and keep your guard up though. That nicodemon will do his best to try and catch you off guard and make you cave in. You're taking back control of your life. Stay strong and vigilant. The cravings may subside more as time goes by, but then again, they could become more intense. Hell week is over. The second week is called heck week. Keep doing what you've been doing to keep busy and try not to think about not smoking.
"I'm starting to feel more optimistic. Maybe this time I can do it" Yes you CAN do this, and the longer you go the stronger and more determined you will become. It's a great feeling taking back control of your life isn't it?
Stay strong and safe....

Thank Timbo. Everything you wrote was very helpful. I came back to read it a few times during the week. I made it through the week. It's not easy but the cravings are getting less intense. I'm starting to feel more optimistic. Maybe this time I can do it.
I'm going cold turkey but I cut back quote a bit before going cold turkey.
I'm staying strong ? ?
Thanks again for your support and advice.
Hey Grapeseed,
Sorry to hear it's rough on you, but ecstatic to hear that you are still on your quit journey! Moodiness is normal, you will adjust to it in time. I am assuming that the cravings are not physical, but mental. After 3 days all of the nicotine is now out of your system, so now it's your brain doing everything it can to get you to cave in and have a cigarette so it can "get it's fix" so to speak. Terribly addictive drug.
Are you going cold turkey, or are you using nicotine replacement therapy? Some people are against it and some for it. I'm one of the ones for it. ANYTHING to help you kick the habit is good in my opinion.
Keep yourself as busy as possible to make time go quicker. Hang in there, it will get easier in time. You can do this. One of the tricks I learned to use, and still use to this day is the deep breathing exercise. Slowly inhale through your nose, hold about 5 seconds, then slowly exhale through your mouth like blowing out a candle. Do this 5 times and it really helps to take the edge off of the craving. It works great for stressful situations too. That's why I'm still using it today. LOL
Hang in there and stay strong!

Thanks for checking in. My first day was rough. I've been very moody and the cravings are intense..I'm pushing through. This is so hard
How did your 1st day go? Hang in there and be a quitter! One of the few times in life being a quitter is actually GOOD for you. LOL
Think happy thoughts along your path to freedom.
