Moving

That's it. If we could only have an on/off switch for our brains! Hang in there because it does get better! I feel better than I did a few days ago. I always find writing or talking about my fears makes it more manangeable. With this move my big fear was I wouldn't have anyone to visit with or have coffee with. This was silly because I have only moved 9 blocks from where I lived before, and I have a van! But at the time the fear was very, very real. Now after a few days I can see it was a bit silly. I am taking encouragement in the fact that this episode of anxiety is receding already. In the last six years I have reduced the time my episodes last from months to days. Take heart - you will come out the other side of this.

hi there. i just read your brief discussion and i really relate to the idea that anxiety is made worse the longer we think about how long it will stick around! I've been having a more acute episode of anxiety for the last month and it is such a pain to re-visit this place. you feel like it will never get better somehow, that you'll be managing your anxiety forever. i wish i could just do something or go somewhere without thinking about it at all! just embrace! argh... maggie

Thank-you for your encouraging words! Last night was our first "sleep" in the new house and today I feel edgy but not like I did before the move. It sure helps to know someone else had the same sort of feelings but got better. It is the getting better that always causes more anxiety for me. I worry the anxiety won't lessen. I guess that is what we are all trying to find ways to live with. My friends all tell me my feelings are normal but it is my worrying about that feelings that get me into trouble. Thanks again for your encouragement.

Hi there! Congrats on the new home. Exciting...but stressful, I know. Last year we built our home and had to live at my parents for 2 months with our 2 children. I spiraled out of control during this time and a little while thereafter. I had several panic attacks and almost fainted looking on symptoms (was really bad!), once we moved and settled in I got better with some help and things returned to normal. So hang in there, the new house will become the 'new normal'...it will get better. Best wishes :)

Hello, My anxiety has been managable for years but this month we have bought our first home and are moving tomorrow. I have had three panic attacks is the last few days. My greatest fear is that the cycle of panic spirals out of control. My anxiety is feeding itself. I know I need to break the cycle but I can't. Any advice???
