Hello, need to get control

I am stopping cold turkey. So far it's been manageable, but it's only been a week. But still, I did a week. I feel better mentally a little bit. I am hoping to remember that feeling when I'm faced with the next"drinking" opportunity.

Welcome Dave57,

Coming to that realization is sometimes the toughest part. Even just allowing yourself to think about making plans to change is a step in the right direction. You deserve to see yourself as a better man. How do you plan to get started?  Are you stopping cold turkey? Any ideas on how you will manage cravings?

Aug of 2006 I realized I need to change, so I reached up to a counselor who then suggested I consulted a psychologist who suggested I attend AA and see a spiritual solution. Once I went to the meetings and started reading the book of alcoholics anonymous, I came to realize that a small percentage of men and women cant control drinking worse part their warped thinking will lead them back to the first drink over and over again. You can look back at the attempts in staying stopped. The mind always tricks us back into drinking. And then we drink way over originally planned and then we drinking phase keeps increasing. If you have insurance maybe you can check into a facility where you can get a brief period of separation from alcohol and that help you stage a recovery.

Hello to all. I have come to the realization that I was drinking to get tipsy, and have issues saying enough. The only way is to stop altogether. I am hopeful the positive  feelings will rule day. I am tired,of,the guilt and want to be a better man.
