Isn't it a wonderful feeling?  It's been over 4 years since I drank and I would like to think I could handle having a drink with my friends, but it's just not worth the risk.  Alcohol had so much control over me before, it was a factor in everything I did and decisions I made.  I refuse to let it do that again so I won't give it a chance.  I'm glad you're feeling good.  Keep up the nice work!

It went fine. How about you?

I have so much more energy now that I don't spend all that time thinking about my next drink, things are getting done around the house...finally. lol

The guilt, remorse are there because we believe that we made a conscious decision to drink. Early phase of our drinking career maybe, but we reach a point where we are driven. Again, this is not for all. Certain sect of the population fall into this zone, where we cant stay stopped. The mind always comes up with a grand plan. Its going to be different this time. I have ran into people in the correction facility who are serving for vehicular homicide, they had just completed treatment, yet they thought they could drink safely and crashed their car into someone. Tragic, but true. They didn't have a choice, they still had the old way of thinking that they can handle alcohol safely and stay stopped But again that peculiar mental twist, I will have just 1. But once we accept it, we can look at options to have a new attitude.

The guilt and the shame. Tell me about it. A few weeks ago, I fell on the front lawn and the neighbour picked me up to walk me back to my place. What an embarassing moment.

You all seem to do well in your journey.

Good job! I’m going to join you this week :)
How I feel when I overdo it:  mad at my self, thinking about it too much, guilt, shame.
When I don’t overdo it: empowered, less guilt and shame, proud of myself. I am going to focus on that this week! How I feel about who I am.

Thanks to you both! I can do hard things.

Good Morning, I’m doing well. I have started exercising, dieting & tracking my calories for weight loss which really helps me not to drink. I have one cheat day which was yesterday & allowed myself to have wine. Other than the one cheat day I’m not drinking. It worked well last week, fingers crossed all goes well this week. Thank you for checking on me! Really helps to hold me accountable!! Sabastian, good for you! You got this! ????

Sabastian,

I'm glad to hear you are doing okay and continue to set goals.  Life does get in the way of our plans sometimes and having a goal to fall back on is always good.  How has your 3 day goal worked for you?

Hi Lynn,

Thank you so much for checking in. I really appreciate it and it helps me. I’m doing okay. Continue using to evaluate my decisions and set goals. I’m planning on 3 no drink days this week again. There is pressure from a lot of areas coming up so setting goals continues to be helpful. EMJ725 how are you?! I think about you and your journey. Lynn, thanks again for asking ??
