Thanks ND,

I appreciate the kind words and, likewise, glad to see you back posting as well. You've always been an extremely positive and supportive influence to all those on the site.

After a few exchanges with others on the site I was going to pack it in, however, I've followed the site since that time and I realized it wasn't just directed at me and the problems lay with those that post negative or derogatory comments. My goal has always been to be a positive influence and bring new ideas and discussions to the site. I can use the support as well.

All the best,

Dave848

So, in keeping with the thread I have a few ideas for how to move forward from where we might get stuck.
I think taking herbal supplements is a good thing. There are many options out there. They are non addictive and can help boost your brain to start making those feel good chemicals again. I personally feel that the herb Kratom was a miracle in changing my pattern and helped me more than I can say to overcome the crippling hold alcohol had on me.  I was depressed....and making myself more and more depressed as I was trying to fix the depression.  It's such a cycle... As I'm sure you guys know that alcohol depletes your brain of serotonin. The more we drink the further depleted we become. I think that's part of the hook of drinking. We have issues, we have problems, stress...our bodies and minds don't handle it well. We aren't perhaps equipped to deal with our problems.  Whatever drives us to drink to excess. I think we forget how we can feel free of it all. If we make new habits that make us feel healthy, good and clear. It will make a huge difference.  Also, get into the habit of forgiving yourself for the past.  That is a huge hurtle for me. I beat myself up over and over again for my past transgressions.  I am learning to find a new place to view from. Meaning not the distorted view of self depreciation. View life past and present from a place of hope. That's my advice. Just a few thoughts...
