Gallbladder... anyone?

Dear Caitlin, You sound worried I dont want you to worry. I had two surgeries in my life, the gallbladder and then a C-section, I had a D/C after a miscarriage once too. Believe me Caitlin I have no doubt you will get through it, look at what a baby I can be and somehow did it. I don't remember if I had pains under my ribs, I do remember I had just gotten married, moved to a new town, started a new job and was under SO much stress, they took my gallbladder out and I had one stone, I often wonder if I even needed it, I had so much anxiety and health anxiety back then {no panic that fun did not come till later thank God!} I know now its SO much easier and safer, they can "laser" the stones and not even remove the gallbladder, are you having pain in the upper stomach and radiating to the back? I heard thats one of the symptoms, did they do an ultrasound to make sure its a gallbladder, it could be something minor. If it is gallbladder Caitlin please remember its so safe and routine now, when I had it it was much "surgery-like" now its quick and safe, I will pray for you, the Doctor is right its so much more routine now, and they have other options than surgery. I have to remember that next time I get scared, my two surgeries, I even had a horible car accident when my head almost went through the windsheild of our car, that was a shaved head and 25 stitches!! I was in labor 31 hours with my son! I am going to have to remember these things Caitlin next time I freak out, that I survived all that, but I was younger and stronger! God I wish I was 25 again. Let me know how you are, I hope I helped you, you have helped me so much. God bless, Debbie.

Ok, I am really in need of some reassuring words from anyone who has had, or knows someone who's had, gallbladder disease or gallstones? I was diagnosed today, due to extreme abdominal pain, and I am going to have to undergo surgery to remove either the gallstones or the entire gallbladder. My doctor said it's very common, it's minor surgery, no big deal. But I am still overwhelmed and frightened. I am worried about waiting for the procedure - what if something gets worse while I'm waiting?? I have never had surgery of ANY kind. I have never had any real health problems (only perceived ones!) so this is really scary for me. Debbi was so kind, and told me that she had hers out in the 80s and is still fine. I just keep jumping to worst case scenarios and freaking myself out. I know this is silly and nothing to get worked up about... just looking for some help convincing mylself... Thanks... Caitlin
