Welcome Driver8,

Glad to hear you have pin pointed your trigger. Nice work! How are you feeling today?

Oddly enough, no withdrawal symptoms.  Maybe the way I drank.  I would slam a pint of vodka and a couple of beers between 4 pm and 6 pm everyday.  That kept me toasted all evening.  Almost never had a hangover.  Probably slept through it.  I have a 9 year old who started to complain that when I drank, it was like being alone in the house.  She started hiding my open beers.  That, along with the other obvious health risks, signaled it was time for a change.  So now, if I can make it from about 3 to 7 pm w/o drinking, I'm fine.  This time of day is my trigger as well as cooking dinner and grilling.  Never did drink early in the day.

What are the tools that you are using to stay sober after being a daily drinker? A full week sober is fantastic. I remember my first week, oh the night swets where brutal, I didn't get the shakes like some tho.

Joined about a week ago, but this is first post.  I'll skip the details, but I've got my reasons.  The education section is good and it got me thinking.  Turns out the 1000 alcohol calories I've been ingesting everyday is enough to put on 80 lbs. of  fat per year.  Luckily, I'm only 20 lbs. over at most because I watch my diet and am active.  Felt a difference in the last few months since I boosted my consumption and I don't like it.  Time to make a change for this and other reasons.  Stopped drinking on a drinking holiday (St. Patricks).  Not as hard as I thought it would be for someone who has been drinking in excess every day for a long time.  Good luck to you all.
