Good Morning I'm Colorado. And I signed up for the help Center 2 weeks ago. I made it. I reached 1 of my goals. I made it through the holidays without drinking. And I feel great. I know that a lot of people say that it's one of the hardest times to try to quit. With the stress and commotion. I found it very helpful to be with my family and feel the love and support that they can provide. It's the first two weeks I've gone without drinking in over 20 years. And I'm stocking with it. Thank you for the insight and support. The emails are very helpful to read. And just knowing there are people out there just like me. Happy New Years to all
I'm happy to read that yesterday went well. In days gone by I would jump at any opportunity to drink. I had eluded myself that there was nothing more pleasurable than getting intoxicated.
Alcohol doesn't care if....it makes you sick, embarrasses you, takes away all that is important to you including the roof over your head. Alcohol will take away your youth, your strength, your self esteem and your sense of well being. Alcohol will turn you into a person that you and others hate.
When alcohol is done with you...you, will no longer exist.
So I posted that I was worried about Friday because I was going to be home alone...I made it without a glitch. Sailed thru the day and night. I feel so great about that! In fact I got tons of things done!
Here are some thoughts I had yesterday that I wanted to share....
There is no contentment in drinking
There is no good that can come from drinking home alone it's a sad state infact
There is power in not giving in and feeling good the next day
It's like building new roads in our brain
I like not having to hide and worry---alcohol makes us do both. Infact we can hide in plain site if we want, or hide in the closet...hiding is the norm
Just random thoughts I had yesterday....what are some thoughts you have about it?
