Thanks ND and Lisa. I am doing pretty well specially when I stay home, am with my family and closest most supportive friends. I have relapsed twice when out in social situations where drinking is the norm and I am not with my closest circles. I wonder if I should be just avoiding those situations for now, completely or trying to handle them AF? The only positive side of otherwise very disappointing relapses was that I didn't keep dinking after the social time and really tie one on.

Hi Lisa. I am still in the early stages too so may not be very seasoned as a buddy but yes happy to chat and share. ( if you meant me ) Ralph

I'm not a very patient person either, Lisa.  Dave is right. Try to be patient. It gets better after this week. You'll feel better pretty quickly probably by the end of the week. I always am amazed at how free I feel when I'm AF. It's when/if I slip that puts me back in prison.  Hang in there you are in control!

HI Lisa1242,

Try to be patient with the first week and stay focused. You'll start feeling a lot better very soon. The first week is always difficult. You made it through a difficult part (the weekend) and that's a challenge. Do you find any situations to be big triggers for you?

All the best,

Dave

I understand that.  Do you want to be my buddy on occasion?  The more I have the better.

Hi Lisa, Day 22 I am feeling better just tired for some reason. Good idea to talk to your partner and agree on a plan of action. This requires ongoing communication. But your partner also cannot necessarily be your "buddy" the person you can really share all your feelings and reactions with. You need someone who has lived the experience for that. Ralph

Beside some shaky hands, horrible sleeping pattern and some achiness, it wasn't horrible.  Day 2 is going okay.  Waiting for my partner to get home to discuss plan of acition, so anxious now.
