In Quebec we have Bougex.com. It is all about activities club. I think they have like 15 000 different clubs, even people who like to picnic on the mountain. I have joined the one for people who sails but it is 5-7 in a bar.:-(
I found I had to make new friends and find activities that didn't centre around drinking. So I joined meetup.com It's definitely not a dating site, it's a place where you can find groups for almost any interest, formed by people who also want to meet new people. Through it, I found a book club, a bowling league, a mediation group, and a purely social group that meets at inexpensive resaurants. It's a lot of fun really.
