Congratulations Turquoise,

That's awesome.  Glad you decided on what worked for you and stuck with it.

Keep up the good work, one day at a time.

Thank you everyone. I am miserably sick right now with a nasty head cold. My tonic for decades has been a hot toddy with scotch, lemon and honey. It has been very hard all weekend not to go that route. Still is....

Dave, the last month has honestly felt kind of like, 'meh'. I'm glad I'm sober, but I miss my evening wine. I still struggle a lot with cravings, although they are much less noisy now. It's like a mosquito in the dark bedroom that you can't find. It drives you crazy, but you know it really isn't that big of a deal. Just get over it. They used to be more like a telephone ringing and ringing, that I couldn't turn off or ignore. I would finally have to answer it just to shut it up.

Anyway, I appreciate the good words from all the members and from Ashley. They will help me get through today. Even more than I miss my drinking, I'm so happy with all the benefits of NOT drinking. You guys are definitely an inspiration to me. On to the cough medicine...

Dave,

I could not help but notice your comments.

I have found that travelling can really throw the routine, and routine is something I rely on very heavily.  Hunger, tirdness and head time are all comprimised.  I have found that difficulties have crept up on me without even realising it and beofore I know it my triggers to drink are going off all around me and I am having to do battle with all the old arguments.

I hope my future self awarness might help avoid much of the difficulties here.

Take care,

Rob

Keep up the great work Turquoise, you continue to inspire me.  I'm in awe of your strength...hugs.  I will follow your lead if moderation fails me.  So far so good, a couple minor slips, but forging ahead.

Well done Turquoise! We're in the same zone. How have you found the last month? I'm really busy myself traveling and I have had a few thoughts about drinking like ...."It seems like such a waste not to have a drink right now while I'm in ......." but I'm really glad I didn't. I have found the last month to be really long. It seems like an eternity since I started this.

Keep up the great work Turquoise!

Best regards,

Dave
