Day two, zero alcohol for me.  Went to lunch today and had a salad.  Went to the gym, bought a wok and cooked fresh veggies with shrimp.  Took a walk after dinner, making some sleepytime tea now.  I feel I'm gonna get addicted to exercise in place of alcohol.  That's ok at least it's healthy.  I could spare to lose a few lbs!!  Gonna get up early, hit the gym, then go to work, I have a late appointment in the city, probably won't get home till like 7--ish, which is good.  Anywho....here's to day two!!!

Jaytee and Lisa,

welcome to the support forum.  There are lots of reasons for cutting back or giving up drinking.  All of us here probably reflect the full range.  One thing is for certain, that niether of you are alone in what you are going through.

I have found the forum very usefull and supportive with a lot of very pragamatic advice and tips.

Keep on posting and we will can help each other as we go.

Take care,

Hi Jaytee and Lisa,

The power to truly overcome this alcohol demon is not of this world...meaning the power is supernatural.  Although it requires our willing participation and cooperation, it is only a higher spiritual power, one that is not of our natural selves, that can smash this disease to smithereens.  Call it God, whatever you wish at this time, until you get to know this power personally.  Willpower alone will not accomplish this impossible task for a true alcoholic.  I started another discussion thread on this very subject today.

The other power is from regular fellowship with like-minded alcoholics supporting each other in this quest, like those below and others who have yet to join the forum or this discussion.

I know how you feel!  The terrible guilt and shame that follows a night of intoxication.  I check my phone to see who I called or texted.  Many a "I'm so sorry about last night"'s!  Too many.  Humiliating. Let's help each other!

Thank you so much Josie!  I really need to do this for good and stay clean and sober for a change.  I'm feeling good tonight, tired but at least I'm not drunk.  Thank you for this site and for your support!

This week I woke up at 2 am Tuesday morning, still drunk from passing out before 8 Pm the night before and proceeded to have just one more drink...after I don't know how many more...I passed out again only to get up at 630 and go to work ...drunk! I just cant keep doing this to myself....I felt awful and I am sure everyone at work knows! Did I drink when I got home Tuesday night...of course because there was still wine in the bottle. I was real good on wed and thurs ... not one drop and felt so much better. Then Friday afterwork I went shopping...and the cycle repeated itself...until 4 this morning when the wine was finished. I do not want to do this anymore.....I need to stop this....I am just so tired of how I feel! I need to find the power to overcome this.
