Taking the Initiative

Thanks Ashley,
I have tickets to Marilyn Manson in Sudbury, long story why I am going there to see him when he was in Hamilton lastnight.  I'm hoping a friend will jump in, if not, we both lost 70 dollars.

I wanted to get back to Sudbury with a stable mind, and appreciate it for what it is.  You've been following me from the beginning so you know this is the place I was hospitalized in.  Courage needs to trump fear here.

Hi Ashley,

Well there are a few major things in my life that make drinking not so much of a priority anymore.  One being, I passed my profession practice exam, have sent in all of my documentation and I am waiting for my CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) Certificate.  This helps me in my professional development and makes me proud of myself for the accomplishment.

Like I said, I recently applied to McMaster University, and I have high hopes that I will get in and will be able to even develop even further in my professional carreer as well as gaining further knowledge.  This may take time to accomplish, but this could lead to me going onto my Masters, and also becoming a P.ENG.  That is a bit down the road, but the possibility is there.

I wanted to enjoy the band, and time with my  friend without continually going to the bar, it's just not fun for me.

I've really spent a lot of time focusing on myself, my needs, my wants, my expectations.  Sure, I have hard times, but I just can't detatch from who I truly am.  I need to maintain elasticity in my mind, and keep it open to all that is out there.

Being hammered, just isn't fun, and the end result if I glorify drinking is getting wasted and blacking out, or dwelling on stupid things that when I am sober don't even bother me.  I can't waste my time being the "other" guy.  I have too much going for me, and I want to keep up the pace and keep grinding.

That's great PJ. That sounds like a really fun time!

Glad that alcohol was not an issue either. Nice work! What do you think was different about this time that made alcohol not the focus?

Well Ashley,
to answer my celebration, (I have still not been accepted, so I can't really celebrate success)  but on Tuesday night, my best bud and I, my concert bud, my jamming bud.  We had tickets to go see one of our fav bands in Toronto, known as 'Hot Water Music'.  I actually purchased a couple VIP tickets for us, (his birthday ways in September).  We like some popular bads but we both stand by the bands who have been doing it forever and love doing it for their music a creativity.
They had a private session for the VIP guests, I think there were 10 of us, so we got to watch a few songs from the band with no one around, and then the bands came down, we shook hands, shot the **** for a bit.  It was pretty neat, very humble down to earth guys.

We were early for the show so there was a pub next door, we went for a couple drinks, I had two dark ales over the course of three hours.  I was more interested in watching the show, and singing to the words.  I prefer abstinence, but having a slow steady 2 drink over three hours, well that's okay with me.  It's funny, after the VIP meet and greet, one of the lead Singer/guitarist Chuck Ragan, walked into the pub, looking for a seat, walked by us after talking to the waitress and said "Hey Guys! long time no see!"  it was fun.

I only mention the pints for the sake of mentioning the pints, but to be honest, it held no throught in my mind before the show during the pints, and then enjoying the concert.   Everything else trumps the booze, hence why I had no need to drink at the show, and not just need, no want!

Hello,

So today, I finally got around to applying to University for Energy Engineering Technologies - B.TECH.  It feels pretty good, like the gears are finally in motion, and the process is underway.  If accepted, I will start in the Fall and most likely only start with 2 courses per semester Part-time.  I would like to keep my job and gaining experience, which will help pay.  It will take a bit of time, because it's part-time, but I'm not going to use that as an obstacle or deterrent.

- PJ
