Marylizy,
don't beat yourself up, I've slipped so many times that I feel like I've been living on a sheet of ice for the past 4.5 years. You just have to keep trying and we're here to support you.  I just got back on the horse Monday, today is a new day and at the end of the day you will have your first day back and your sobriety started again :)

Stay positive

No need for guilt Marylizy. Slips happen; we are here to support you through it. It is all part of the learning process.

I replied to you in another thread so I won't add much here. Just don't let this little hiccup interfer with your positive attitude.

Hi royhobbs,

I'm so glad this site helps alleviate typical urges to drink!  Use it often - there is always someone here to listen (read!) and offer advice.

Thanks everyone for your input.  It really helps to know that you're using the site and the resources and the members as support.  Just writing this now is helping me get over some of the typical urges I would have in the morning and right now I feel at peace again.  If you can do something to get past the urge by doing something else like utilization of the site or cleaning or reading etc.  So I thank you all and I will definitely continue utilizing the site and my resources.

Hello Royhobbs and welcome.
I have been in this site for weeks and trying to establish a normal relationship with alcohol, and the info and support from other members helped so much.

MaryLizy, I think you are doing great.. Congratulations for 2 weeks! We are looking forward to celebrate your 20th week without alcohol hopefully..

Morning everyone...well today is 2 weeks for me and looking back at my diary I screwed up 2 times. That is amazing going  from drinking every day for many many years to 2 weeks without. I am going to give myself a pat on the back but not get to cocky or I will fall right back into my old ways. I hope you all are doing well. I am so happy to have this site to write on. Thanks for being there.

Hi Royhobbs and welcome to this site.  You'll find everyone is very supportive here and best of all, you will not be judged.  I've been battling this addiction for about two months now, I have only gone as long as 6 days without alcohol.  Today is day three, I'm trying again.  You will find some great resources on this site and the forum is a great way to express yourself in complete anonymity.  I am also a very private person and I find that even though I'm hiding behind my computer, I am still accountable to the people I have bonded with in this forum, and when I screw up, I tell them about it.  Not only does it help to get the feelings of disappointment and guilt off my chest, I have people who will support me without making me feel worse about my mistakes.  In fact they remind me of my many successes.  I encourage you continue posting in the forum.  Just take this journey one day at a time.

Sounds like you are off to a great start and you have a very realistic view of how to tackle this.

You may want to check out the Emergency Quit Plan in the education section. This is good to have on hand in case of emergency when you are unable to avoid potential trigger situations.

The biggest problem I've had is losing focus.  After going a few months I would assume I could handle the places I used to go, I would be able to handle a beer instead of liquor.  I lost site of what got me into the program in the first place.  I know I have to hold myself accountable for everything I do, especially with the addiction.  I need to put the works into action when I get cravings, and I have to be brave enough to tell someone when those urges come up.  Build up a support group, and avoid the things I would typically find appealing that would give me urges to drink.
Lastly I have to identify when a relapse is on it's way.  Since I know I wouldn't just jump right into drinking there has to be something that I start doing that leads into the actual action of drinking. So it's just a matter of sticking with what I know has worked and is working for me.  Like joining this site and actually taking the time to re-educate myself and get some of these things off of my chest.
