Hi Elizabeth
As far as on the map, I grew up outside of Manhattan, Long Island then after I divorced I moved to Wyoming where I lived for 20 years and have been here in Florida for 8 years. North Central part of Fl. about 30 miles inland from St. Augustine.
Have fun in Nashville. Keep in touch Moga's...

Hi Turquoise...Good day yesterday and enjoyed not drinking...even went out on the boat with a friend who was drinking beer but I prepared and brought my herb tea, iced, and was very happy with that. So much of this is  your frame of mind. When I say that I am going to drink and get wasted I usually do and when I say I am practicing moderation, it works...Imagine that? So thanks for all the support MoGa's....

Really enjoyed seeing the Queen parachute into the stadium with 007 for the opening of the Olympics. I've always been a big fan of QE2. The best part-- I was sober.

Turquoise, was that you who started the challenge? Thanks.

Marylizy, Camiol, and all, sounds like we all had a better day. Onward and upward.

So, where are you all on the map? I grew up in Nashville but lived in Florida the last 25 years. I'm visiting my non-drinking friends back home this weekend.

Everyone's doing great. Moderation for the rest of our lives is what Mogas are about, and honestly--what we're REALLY about - is feeling healthy about our own progress and daily relationship with alcohol. If you feel healthy and good about it, then you are doing the right thing. It is wonderful to hear all the positive words, both about your own progress and feelings, and all the words of each other's support. Camiol, Elizabeth, BP - those of you who are drinking moderately - it sounds like you are perfectly under control at the moment, and I wish you luck in going the entire week without a lapse!

I made it through yesterday without drinking... Marylizy & Hope, how are you doing??? I sure thought about a glass of wine when I saw the nicely filled wine rack after I arrived from 8 hours on the road with two kids, but we all watched the opening of the Olympics instead. My kids are generally great little travelers, so I didn't have any real extra stress to use an excuse. I do still plan to go an entire week sober, but I also am aware that I have a big challenge coming up before the end of my seven days. My biggest problem days will be next Wednesday or Thursday, when I'm getting together with one of my oldest friends from before high school. She is not at all a heavy drinker, but is the type of wine drinker I am striving to be. She doesn't know I've had problems with it. She always offers me wine, and I have three glasses to her one.... This time I will do my best to stick with something that isn't alcohol.

Have a great weekend, and think MoGa...

Yes  BP, you are doing so great without the brandy...you should be very proud of you...and Camiol weekends are tough. It is your time to relax, have a few cocktails and hang with family and friends. I will be going out this evening and am going to try and not give in and will report back in the morning. Have a wonderful weekend MOGA's...be safe and in control.

BP congratulations on 29 days with no brandy, and having only one wine cooler after work.  You are doing so amazingly well.  Thinking back to where you were a month ago, and where you are now, you have taken huge leaps and strides in your journey.  You are such a strong woman.

I hope you're right that I can stick to being sober.  I am very proud of myself that I was able to completely on control last night, and Thursday night.  Today I have to attend our family barbecue and again I will stay in control.

How are all the Mogas doing today?  Is everyone working on day two of the challenge?  I'm sorry I didn't stick to Turquoises start date, but I plan to have no alcohol starting tomorrow.   I'm still having a tough time with the weekends, but if I'm going to drink on the weekends, I am going to try to keep it controlled as I've done so far this weekend.  Hang tough ladies.

Hi Camiol, for sure I think you could stick on your sober.
Another sleepless night so I check in again. I have only 1 fruit wine cooler after work and I will go to the long term care centre tomorrow so I have to control myself for only 1 bottle.
Today is my 29 days without any brandy and I hope that I will not touch it again.
Try to sleep again.
Sweet dreams to all Mogas and will check in tomorrow.

Hi ladies.  So as planned ihad a beer at the restaurant, then drank water after that.  When we got home, my best friend akko came over and my husband poured us each a 2 serving size glass of wine.  I drank it over about an hour and I feel stone cold sober.  Again I was very mindful of how much I consumed and I feel I did really good again.  I maintained my self control, and if I can do this all the time, I'll be a happy woman.  Realistically I know I can slip quite easily, but at this very moment, I feel that Im being conscious of how much I'm drinking and the effects of the alcohol I am consuming.  This is the most control I've had in a very long time.  I hope I can stick with it.

Hey Elizabeth it is just fine that you had a beer...we are over 21 and in charge of our life and MODERATION is the key...so think about tomorrow and if you don't drink thats fine and if  you do it;s fine also...We are not here to judge and reprimand each other, we are here for support so that is what you will get, support and a place to let out your feelings without judgement. Have a great rest of the evening...Will check in tomorrow and see how you all are doing..

Marylizy, thanks for your encouragement. As you say, today is a new day. The way I see it, if you were really a mess you wouldn't be trying to get yourself on the right track like you are, so therefore you don't seem like a mess to me. I like that we are the Moga, not the Abga, so every bit of progress is worthwhile.

I had a beer with my husband at happy hour, so I need to be forgiven also. As far as last night, I know my triggers-- I had some not-so-great news about work yesterday and used it as an excuse. I was only fooling myself.

Camiol, sounds like you're doing fine. You are mindful, and that's very important. Thanks again for welcoming me to your thread.

All of you, I'm enjoying getting to know you and really appreciate your support.
