I find it really helpful to attend AA meetings. I usually only make it to 1 a week, I wish I could go more but its hard to find a babysitter in the middle of the day. I read the book Living Sober first because it was way shorter and easier for me to read than the Big Book which is huge and looked very overwhelming to me when I fist got it. I also read pamplets because you can choose them by subject. I don't know, I have never been a big reader, I have ADHD and unless its short an sweet it usually loses my attention. I have found it most helpful to me to take in small bits of information at a time so I have time to digest it.
I went back to the AA meeting, this is my 2nd time... there were a few different women there, and some from last week. They were extremely nice again. They shared their stories, and I shared why I was there. I will keep going back, one woman even lent me one of her books.
If you click to view my blog, i had the links for a long time. Read, listen, digest and into action. On the 'Living Sober' book, i would say, don't read it now.
thanks splitimage... it's really no choice now, I've done everything, tried everything... except AA..... I will continue to go, they are REALLY nice ladies! I bought a couple of books after the meeting, the "Daily Reflections" and "Sober Living" I'm looking forward to next week :)
