MIND OVER MATTER?

I challenge my anxious thoughts through the process taught on the program offered here. Have you tried it yet? It is free in case you haven't. Anyways, I think it's in chapter three (maybe four) that teaches you how to do this. The first time I used one of the "Challenge Your Anxious Thoughts" worksheets that you can print out, I was amazed how in control I felt! For the first time in 12 years I felt like I was in control - it was a miracle! And it was a pretty big panic attack at the time, which made it all the more amazing to me because normally I would have just laid there and waited for it to pass, only to come back. I absolutely believe without a doubt in my head that you can challenge out your anxious thoughts and replace them with positive ones. Absolutely! Take advantage of the program if you haven't yet. You will learn how to do this.

Dear alison, Good question. You may replace the thoughts with positive thoughts HOWEVER, you cant stop your thoughts. The more you try to control yr mind, the more rebellious it would be. If you listen your mind well enough, you will find that it's full of positive and also negative thoughts, they never get out of our minds. But lucky is, we can calm our mind down by meditation. The more calm we are, the better we can understand our mind. From that, we realise that letting go of thoughts is the best way instead of replace them with positive thoughts. "Mind is very bad master, but it is excellent slave" Got it?

I've been working on this with my therapist. First, I had to learn to notice when I was having bad thoughts, because they are so automatic as a result of 15 years of practice. Now, I'm working on replacing the bad thoughts with my affirmations. I generally have to tell myself to do my affirmations when the bad thoughts start, but I've noticed once in a while that the affirmations will start up by themselves, so I suppose that's progress. You just have to be very vigilant about catching bad thoughts and doing affirmations.
