Welcome!

Congrats on getting started. Going to walks is a great way to cope with irritability. I also like that you will get detailing your car - that should help with the cravings.

How are you doing now? If you are still going strong, congratulations on getting through Hell Week! If you are struggling, know it is common and we will be here to support you no matter what stage of the quit process you are at.

Congrats on what I think is your day 7! (Math is not my forte)  Today is my 3rd day, and it's tough, but I'm just keeping my eyes on the prize one day at a time.  Just know you're not alone

Hi JoAnne,
Welcome to the Stop  Smoking Center website.  Congratulations on giving up smoking!  You have every right to be proud of yourself too. It takes a lot of willpower to give up nicotine after so long as a smoker. How are you doing today, are you still a quitter?  "I've also never been more irritable" This is normal, one of the many side effects of giving up smoking. It's a new lifestyle for you and it will take some time for your body to make adjustments. Rest assured that the irritability will subside in time, along with the other side effects. Like Pappy said, try and keep yourself busy and find new ways to take up your time.
Have you tried to quit before? Its good that you know that driving is one of your triggers. Since you are aware of it, you "should" be able to find different ways to deal or cope with it. Keep us updated on your progress too okay?
Stay strong.

Hi JoAnne, congratulations on quitting. Two days down means you are half way through what we all call hell week. You are doing great, stay focused and be sure to go through the information here at SSC . There is so much here to help you with your quit. Be sure to drink plenty of water as that will help you flush the nicotine out of your system. Change your daily habits around and find some things that will help distract you from thinking about having a smoke. You can do this!!!

Hello. I am 26 years old. I have been smoking since I was 15. I finally quit yesterday. I've never been more proud of myself. I've also never been more irritable. I find myself going for walks to be alone and just BREATHE!! Driving is my weakness, I'm trying not to spend too much time in my car until I can get it detailed and smoke free. Good vibes to all, let's help eachother stay strong. Anyone else in the early stages of this hell?
