HI Sasha! Only you can pick when it's the best time to quit. For me I had been thinking about it for some time and woke up one morning and just decided this is the day. The hardest part of your journey will be the first week and I think anyone on this forum can attest to that. Drink plenty of water, try to find things that distract your mind from thinking about smoking. Change the routine of your day. Focus on all the great reasons for quitting. You can do this!

Nice job, bet you can't believe you have made it for two weeks, I never imagined I could make it even one day when I first quit.. It's such a great accomplishment and something to be proud of. Like sparrow said there will be times you are going to be tempted but they will pass quickly. Keep up the great work, your doing great!!

i read here somewhere that we all were non-smokers at one time. and we're pretty much simply becoming non-smokers again. imagine all those $1,000s we've paid to some corporation over the years to make us sick. how ridiculous is that? i like it much better on this side of the fence.

Congrats on the 2 week milestone!!!!  It feels good doesnt it. You sound so much better since the last time we heard from you. You are healing and thats awesome. And good on you for not giving in on your date.....that was quite a test and you passed. It certainly does feel good to tell people you quit....it gives you a sense of pride. Make no mistake what youve done is no easy feat. Many people want to and never get there. For me the first two weeks were definitely the hardest and youve now got it out of the way and behind you. Its normal to continue to crave sometimes. Like you read in my post l still do but theyre less intense and shorter lasting. Now lets both strive for our goal of never craving smoking again. We can do this

Thanks to you guys and this site, I made it through 2 weeks. I'm back to minimal cravings sneaking in on occasion but it's not anything that's consuming my thoughts by any means. In fact, I had a date this afternoon and he ran out and needed to go buy cigarettes. And it felt really good to say "i quit. today's my 14th day."
 
Let's get serious for a second. In my real life, I'd rather not complain or let anyone know if any depression might be creeping in. I don't get high anymore. Don't even like to drink. I think the last time I drank any alcohol was in November. So I had a tough week, relationship issues, just wanting to crawl into myself, and the cigarette cravings were monstrous. It was absolutely a mood thing that I needed to work through. The anonymity of this site makes it easier to share feelings, yet your support and willingness to share your own experiences kept me connected and allowed me to get through the rough patch. My sincere appreciation for that. <3
 
I just read a post by sparrow who said she's in her 39th day and still has an occasional craving creep in. I totally get it. I can't wait for that day I wake up and realize it's been a while since I even thought about having a  smoke. Stay strong my friends. :)

Hi Cammi,
 It is nice saving money instead of literally burning it up isn't it?  You are almost through with heck week and the blah weeks are quickly coming up. Don't let it get you down. Even though it may seem like you have came to a standstill on your quit, it's all mental and your body is repairing the damage you did to it by smoking. It's going to take a little time for your brain to realize that it's not going to be getting its "fix" anymore, and in the meantime, it's going to have temper tantrums once in awhile. Be stronger than the urge. Like you said, Onward and upward!  You are doing great!! Be sure and give yourself a nice reward for all the effort you are putting into this quit journey.

It's day 12 and my meter says that I've saved $42 so far which is really nice. The last thing on which I can afford to waste money is cigarettes. So I'm not going to be buying any or smoking today but, for some reason, the quit is seeming tougher as time goes on. I think it's just my state of mind and need to keep pushing through it. Onward and upward :)

No doubt this is quite the roll coaster ride that I never quite expected. I can go for days at a time and feel like I have this addiction beat and under control and then wham out of the blue I get hit with overwhelming feelings of I could use just one smoke, how could that possible hurt me. I remind myself that no matter how rough things get a smoke is not going to solve anything. It was just a crutch that I used and had convinced myself that somehow it was helping me when it actually was harming me instead. I also tell myself why undo all this hard work after 40 days, this will pass just like all the other cravings did. You are doing fantastic, keep up the good work. You made it through the toughest week.
